March 27, 1952 - October 9, 2021
Mrs. Emma "Janey" Holman Long was born on March 27, 1952, to the late Lue Cindy and Cleveland Holman in Mulberry, TN. She departed this life on Saturday, October 9, 2021.
She professed her hope in Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served with the adult ushers, the Lula B. Swift Circle, sang with the mass choir and served on various other committees.
She united in holy matrimony with Willie James Long, Sr. on June 5, 1971, and later welcomed three children.
After working as a Nursing Assistant, Emma attended college at Jackson State Community College and later Lambuth University. She then went on to work for Pathways where she retired after a total of 24 years with the last 14 years spent as the Criminal Justice Mental Health Liaison for Jackson City Court Judge Blake Anderson. There she felt she found her true calling. She was also the trainer for the Crisis Intervention Training Program (C.I.T.) where she trained officers in Mental Health Awareness. She continued to volunteer her services to various organizations even after retirement.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years: Willie James Long Sr.; her firstborn grandson: Jordan James Long; sisters: Ruth Peacock and Linda Holman; brother: Martin Holman.
Emma leaves to cherish her memory her children LaShandra C. Long and Cindra B. Long, both of San Angelo, Tx and Willie J. Long Jr of Oakfield, Tn; three grandchildren Markwill DeGuain Holloman, Elijah Lee-Williams Long, and Makayla Janae Long; two sisters Edna (Gerald) Long and Mattie (Lee) Darnell, both of Jackson, Tn; a half-brother Marlon (Vivian) Hardison of the Nashville area; a special niece Sorita L. Holman of Nashville, Tn; and nephew Brandon D. Long of Jackson, Tn; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who were also near and dear to her.

I felt the presence of the Lord very strongly at this funeral. May this love one rest in peace until she rises again with a glorified body to be raptured. Hallelujah hallelujah.
