I've had one for 47 year's & it still will empty the tube, as fast as you can pull the trigger. Micro groove barrel's were ahead of their time in 1975. Mine was purchased at Kmart for $49 with a 4× Glenfield scope.

I have a problem with watching your videos, I can not stop! I keep going back and watching old ones over and over. The best one that keeps me intrigued is the tests on the hollow point shorts. What a under rated cartridge . Took a lot of Raccoons in my very younger years. Just love your presentation of the 22 rimfire and rifles. 👍👍👍👍👍✌🏻🇺🇸😎

Congratulations, Tom, on reaching the 5,000 subscriber mark. Onward and upward, it seems like yesterday you were celebrating the 4,000 subscriber mark. Great content will continue to produce even higher levels of interest. Great video, the Glenfield turned out beautifully. The walnut stain took that stock to a new level. Also, your shooting just seems to get even better. The squirrels in your area are not safe, looking forward to seeing you in the woods soon. Now you’ve not only hooked me on the Remington 581’s, I now have a new found interest in the Glenfield Marlins as well. Within the past two weeks I’ve acquired two Glenfield squirrel stock rifles, one was in unaired condition and the other was hardly used. This week I will be receiving a Marlin 65 “Golden 50,” essentially a 60 but with an interesting feature, it has a brass inner and outer magazine tube and “Golden 50” stamped on the barrel. My understanding is that the 65 was made by Marlin as a promotional item for OTASCO, an Oklahoma auto supply company. Should be interesting.

I have a question on your rifle. I have the exact model mine is the 1979 Glenfield 60 but my safety will not move to safe unless I tap it over. If you still have your old trigger assembly I will buy it if you could part with it. I've taken my safety apart to try and solve the problem cleaning and inspecting every part. It catches on the ball bearing in under the capture spring like it falls down to far and obstructs the travel. I've taken it apart and tried everything to fix it. Please let me know if you would be willing to sell the old one if you still have it. Thanks so much John.
@CumberlandOutdoorsman
@CumberlandOutdoorsman Год назад
The only thing I replaced was the actual trigger itself. I had a similar problem with the safety before. I fixed the stiffness in that safety by machining down the center of the safety by putting it in a hand drill and using a file to machine it down while it was turning in the chuck. Taking about 1/3rd off of the ridge will usually make it work easier. If not, take a bit more off until you get it the way you want it.

If your Model 60 features last shot bolt hold open, it was manufactured between 1985-88. The rifles manufactured 1985-88 are the best Marlin/ Glenfield model 60’s to have in my opinion. You get the 18+1 magazine tube and last round bolt hold open during those years. All model 60’s pre 1985 had the 18 round magazine tube, but no last shot bolt hold open. Post 1988 rifles had the last shot bolt hold open, but the magazine tubes was shortened to 14 rounds due to gun control measures that were brewing for the early nineteen nineties. Those evil “high capacity” magazines… Enjoyed the video! 👍🏻💪🏻🤙🏻
@CumberlandOutdoorsman
@CumberlandOutdoorsman Год назад
I added the LSBHO to this rifle. You are correct about the manufacture dates of the Marlin 60. The fact that Marlin complied to New Jersey's magazine capacity is somewhat disappointing to me, but I guess they didn't want to lose sales in that state so they went along with their liberal ruling.

You have a great 22 semi-auto that will probably never be manufactured again because Ruger does not want the competition with the 10/22. The Marlin/Glenfield 60 and the Ruger 10/22 were competitors for over 60 years and with Ruger acquiring Marlin the competition is done. The Marlin was just as accurate, and just as well made as the Ruger, but the Marlin was more affordable. Thanks for sharing your Glenfield.

I'm sad it took me so long to find the channel! Love what you do! Thank you! The 60 is my go to semi auto. I own Marlin and GlenField models in a few configurations. One of my favorite is the 75C which was made to look kind of like an M1 carbine with barrel band. Got a killer deal. It was new in box from Woolworths with receipt and tags from 1974. I bought it that way for $75 in 2014. My go too is the Marlin I bought in 1987 after completing my hunters safety. $100 of snow shoveling money and I had myself the kmart scope case and rifle combo package. I'll be taking it out for squirrels this coming Saturday here in NM. Keep up the good vids!

I use the Marlin 795 and this year I am putting it in the 995 wood stock. But I have used the ammo you are showing and a few others, Federal champion 36 grain is my favorite, but of all the squirrel I have taken with the Marlin I am not seeing any proof of bullet expansion in a squirrel. It looks like just a clean pass thru in squirrel. I shot a 30# feral hog in the head with the federal 36 grain and the hole on the far side (exit wound) was MUCH larger than the entry side. I have thought about trying the segmented rounds this year. Oh well,happy hunting. And GREAT looking Squirrel getter ya got there.

I've had about 5 M60's over the years and all of them have shot good.....But I have always hated the stock crown Marlin puts on them so after I re-crown them with an 11 degree target crown they have all shot better......The current and only one I have left started out as a 2001 M60 SB and it is fully customized and is a tack driver with subsonic ammo.

So you are saying that a target crown will improve my Marlin 60? That may be something to consider.

@@CumberlandOutdoorsman I re-crown my own barrels with Dave Manson barrel crowning tools and I have had fantastic results.....And I'm just saying it has worked for me will it work for you I don't know......A lot of it will depend on who & how you re-crown your barrel.

Congrats (belatedly) on getting 5000 subs! I think you could be dubbed the Bob Ross of shooting, which is why you're enjoying your success. Looking forward to more terrific .22 series videos from you. My best group ever was with my 1976 Glen 60. 25yds, 5 shots you could cover with a dime.
