WTOL 11's Jeff Smith talks with Toledo's own Jamie Farr as he is set to celebrate his 90th birthday, reflecting on his path from the Glass City to Hollywood.
My wife arranged Jamie Farr to say happy birthday to me . He thanked me for my service and even gave me a salute. I have been saluted by Generals and politicians and queens and kings and heads of states. But getting saluted by Klinger means more to me then all of them put together. I wish I could thank you in person. You made this veterans so happy.
Jamie looks so great! I loved hearing his stories about his career and his life! Bless you Jamie! I wish you a Happy Birthday and a Happy Life ,Dir!❤❤❤🎂🎂🎂👏👏👏😀😀😀
Happy Birthday Jamie Farr! We lived in Toledo for over 20 years, and lived only 2 blocks from the original Tony Packo’s for 3 years. Hope you have an amazing Birthday!!❤️
Have had the pleasures of meeting Jamie twice during the past year, at autograph shows. A warm, kind & lovely man! Every bit the "Cpl. Maxwell Q. Klinger" that we'd love him to be!
Jamie Farr Happy 90th Birthday to you!!! You are so kind and a true legend! Thank you for your service!!! You did a cameo for me for my brother 3 years ago on his 75th our family still talks about it how you were so sweet and genuine honoring my brothers service, thank you Jamie you are a wonderful man!! 🎂👏💖May you have a beautiful 90th Sir!💖💖💖
Jamie Farr at 90- Unbelievable!😮 A Big Happy Birthday to him!🎉❤😊 And I love his story about St. Jude! “The Greatest Story Ever Told” came out in 1965. It starred Max von Sydow, Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowell, Claude Rains, Joseph Schildkraut, Jose Ferrer, Telly Savalas and John Wayne.
I met Jamie in 2013 when he was doing a play about George Burns. He stayed in the hotel I was working at for about two weeks. We had many conversations. What a wonderful man.
Jamie worked bit parts for more than ten years before Klinger, which also started out as a bit part. The part was so popular, Jamie so nice, and a goldmine for the writers, that Klinger's role in the show got bigger and bigger, until he was a full cast member, and out of the dress. Good on you, Jamie! You hung in there and God blessed you with a breakthrough. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Happy Birthday!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Absolutely LOVED this interview!! One of my FAVORITE actors! M.A.S.H. is one of the iconic shows I grew up on. I was blessed to be able to watch the ORIGINAL series!! Happy Birthday Mr. Farr!!!!
Wow!! what a great story about St Jude. God works in mysterious ways. Great interview. In college we always took a break when MASH came on. Max Klinger was always a favorite 🤩 Thanks for the amazing interview!!
Great actor I used to watch many mash shows with my Dad hanging out great memories. Also my self having a July birthday , realized Jamie has been many other shows esp. game shows back in the day.
I hope I am as sharp with an excellent memory that he has on my next birthday of 68. Wow! All these stories he has to tell are so interesting! Happy Birthday to you. Thank you for filling up my days with laughter!
Happy birthday Mr. Farr. Growing up you were like a favorite uncle and a positive male role model. Thank you so much and I wish you many more birthdays uncle.
Excellent video for information alone!!! Loved all things MASH except the politics. That acting ensemble was the greatest pure acting ensemble on TV followed very closely by the Carol Burnett Show, The Andy Griffith Show, and the original I Love Lucy!!! Great job!!! God bless!!!
I'm from Alabama - never been to Toledo. Everytime I have to type the city name Toledo for a purchase order, manifest, etc Clinger immediately comes to mind. He has to be Toledos most favorite son. GOD how old all of us are getting. I hope he lives until 115 if he feels like it.
I love Jamie! Best Happy Birthday ever! I waited for Klinger to show up. My favorite scene was when he tried to convince Henry that his father was dying and Henry pulls out a file with all of the previous letters from his parents that Klinger tried to use to go awol.
I just watched a video of the filming location of MASH series ĺand watch it almost everyday on METV...I still remember all the watch parties for the last episode...
I kinda wish I hadn't watched the filming location video...kinda spoiled the illusion for me...I went on the inside set of Bonanza when I was a kid...same effect...it was never the same...
What a national treasure you have in Mr Farr. Naturally MASH has always been a beloved show in Australia. Listening to Mr Farr warms the heart of a 64 year old bloke. I hope you still have those pink fluffy slippers.
Ralph Pierre LaCock (born March 30, 1926) better known by his stage name, Peter Marshall, is alive; yes, he's an American former game-show host, television, radio personality, singer, and actor. He was the original host of The Hollywood Squares from 1966 to 1981, and has almost fifty television, movie, and Broadway credits.
Really? Not all young children know the word Synonymous much less the meaning (Honestly probably some adults don't know either). Good job parenting. I went to school with Jonas, met Jamie. Great family.
