The US observance of Black History Month in 2023 was centered on "Black Resistance," with the Baha'i House of Worship in Wilmette, Illinois, hosting an event of music, poetry and art created by African Americans. More than 350 people attended, with the theme of the night being the resistance against the devaluation of African Americans' contributions to society. Pop-up exhibits showcased the art of several artists, one of which was Andalib Khelghati, whose works, he said, "reflect the dynamics of a meditative but engaged mindset." The Lincolnwood Chamber Orchestra and Baha'i House of Worship Choir performed pieces by Black composers, with Bahá'ís believing that spiritual solutions are required to combat racism in the US.
