From September 2 to September 6, Paradise College came alive with the vibrant rhythms and dazzling performances by the students at our Cultural Festival. Each day brought a new wave of breathtaking traditional dance performances, showcasing the rich diversity and unity within our community.
The festival opened on Monday with the enchanting New Ireland students, who captivated us with their graceful kundus and bamboo rhythms. The day continued to sparkle as the AROB group took the stage, their melodic bamboo band infusing the atmosphere with the rich musical heritage of New Guinea Islands. Their synchronized movements and harmonious tunes set a high bar for the rest of the week.
As the festival rolled into Tuesday, the energy soared with the spirited performances of Milne Bay and Central students. Their dynamic dances captivated the audience and kept the excitement building.
Wednesday brought a dazzling display of intricate steps and vibrant costumes, as the East Sepik and Morobe/Madang dancers took their turn in the spotlight. Their performances left everyone in awe of their skill and coordination.
Thursday was a day of color and might, with the Southern Highlands and Simbu students commanding the stage. The Southern Highlands students' powerful stomping rhythms set the tone, while the Simbu dancers mesmerized with their long headdress movements, adding a unique flair to the festival.
The week concluded on Friday with an extraordinary international showcase. Our international students brought a global touch to the event, blending dances from various countries into a masterful mash-up. Their expertly choreographed routines had the crowd cheering and clapping along.
