I have a washer/ dryer set that is 23 years old! We bought it when we first got married. It’s nothing special but it does the job, so I’m happy to have them.

A couple years ago our dryer died. My family thinks it either was put in when the house was built or was there when my grandparents had the house before us (so ~40 years)

My bed was my great-grandmothers' and it's easily over a hundred years old. My grandma used it her entire childhood, so did my mother. She gave it to me once i had my own room and was no longer sharing a room with my other siblings. My gran is no longer with us but everytime i use my bed, i can feel her love. This bed is in such good quality still that i know for sure that it would last longer than me and that makes me so happy. I want this piece to be with my family for generations to come. I also have some rings and old coins from the 1800s which my grandmother inherited and ensured that all four of my siblings have some token from our family. I share no blood connection with my grandparents as my mother is adopted but the love and care and kindness i have received from them is exponentially more than i have ever gotten from anyone who was "blood". This video really reminded me of my grandparents and how much they mean to me, so thank you! ❤

I was so sad/mad when I had to buy a new laptop earlier this year. My old one still works and I kept it. The only reason i got a new one is because I couldn't update my old one anymore and knew it wasn't a good idea to use the internet on it. Even if I had to pay for updates I would have rather done that than get a new one.

I have a keychain that was gifted to me in high school by one of our foreign exchange students. He was from South Korea and it is a little jade elephant. I still have it and use it. It is my only keychain accessory that I use. I graduated in 2006. A piece of tech that we have had and still use is our TV. We bought it brand new in 2010 and it’s still going strong. I also have an OshKosh baby dress that my older sister wore when she was a toddler, I wore when I was a toddler, my little sister wore, and my daughter wore when she was a toddler.

I am so happy to see this trend! Soo many items are still usefull even if they are not “trendy” . I just refurbished my grandmother’s dressers. From 1946 to 2024 and they are gorgeous. On the not so pretty side. Ive had the same plastic soap bottle to wash my dishes since 2012. I just kepp refilling it 😂. Thank you for your contente Emma ❤

I have a little blue and lavender electric fan that I've had for 32 years! I bought it in California in 1992, and it went to Texas and back with me. I turn it on in the evenings to circulate air in my bedroom and for white noise. I fear it's not long for this world anymore (LOL!) as it sometimes takes a few seconds to turn on, and I will mourn it when it finally dies. I also had a purple plastic spray bottle that I bought in Texas in 1996. That recently just completely fell apart after 29 years. My mom is amazed at how long I keep things, and they are always in good shape. I take care of my things! We also had in my family a slow cooker that my mom got as a wedding present, so it was older than me. (It was avocado green, true 70's!) It finally stopped working after 40+ years. We have gone through TWO since then: one broke after just a few years, and we still have the one after that.

My oldest is my great grandmother’s embroidery from 1877. (147 yrs old). My oldest personal item is a dress I was given at 1 year old in 1966 (58 years old). And the oldest thing I bought myself brand new is a little melamine tray with a horse’s head on it, from 1974, so50 years old. It has stood on my bedside table every night since I bought it as a coaster for my night and morning drinks.

My favourite 2 oldest things are 2 aprons from the 1940's which my late grandmother made (she died 49 years ago). I no longer wear them as they are incredibly thin. One is a half apron and the other is a Japanese style apron that makes threadbare look good. I'm planning on using that particular one as a pattern to make a new one from a thrifted quilt cover. I also have a collection of dolls - mum's from the early 1950's, mine and my sister's from 1973 and my daughter's from 2000. The year 2000 doesn't seem that long ago but it's almost quarter of a century. My granddaughters now love playing with those dolls. I also have my grandparents' dining room display cabinet from when they got married, in 1932.

My rain jacket + hiking socks look new and were bought in '97. I need to fix the waterproof seams in Jacket, but that's only a problem in really really heavy rain - I've sourced the binding needed just need to get it and do the job. Bought in Patagonia shop and I still wear them out regularly, living in Ireland, so it gets decent wear. The socks I wear now as slippers in winter indoors as i don't hike much. I still have a lot of things that I had in my first apartment, 25 years ago - even things like towels / tea towels, cloth napkins, etc.. some are wearing out and need to be replaced. Still have music from late 1800's but I consider them decorative. My house was built in the 1930's and I know the families that have lived in it, we're the 3rd owners. Some of my furniture comes from Auction rooms and dates from say mid 1800's. Sure I've modern pieces too, but the older pieces fit our house style better.

I love this idea! It's a little hard for me to say the oldest, since I still have items at my parents' house & I also include my little sister & niece in this thought process. The 2 oldest items I can think of right now were given to me: a shop project of a horse at a water well (bronze? on wood) made by my dad in the 60s, & a gigantic custom wooden bookcase built by my grandfather for my mom probably also in the 60s (the bottom shelf was specifically large enough to hold records!). There are some of my parents trinkets from the 60/70/80s that I cherish, plus a wooden side table. Mom knitted 3 blankets some time before I was born (87), & I kept the blue, my sis has the red one. Mom kept most of our kids clothes, and had been giving them to my niece. So that's 36+ years of clothes, toys (from me), etc. If they hadn't been stolen, dad would've given his wedding ring (1985) to my husband; both parents rings were made by her uncle from passed down rings. My husband is also a gamer. I inherited one of my parent's Atari system & large game collection from the 70/80s, plus their records. Hubs has consoles dating to the 1st Nintendo (I added the N64). And up until a month ago, I would've said my phone was 9 years old. It was completely unusable, so I upgraded to a new one with the best options & Protection since I want them to last. I've still got my 1st laptop, got my 1st year off college in 2006, but I've upgraded a few times, kept them all. The ONLY other thing I can think of is a list of recipes handed to me digitally that were from my grandparents, so at least into the 30s. ❤

Probably the oldest things I have and use are the blankets my grandma crocheted for me. Either that or some of my hand-me-down clothes and jewelry from my mom and grandmas. I’m not really sure of the age of most of it. But I’m pretty sure the oldest thing I own period is a book from 1849 but that’s mostly kept tucked away safely (also I got it from a used book sale for $5!)

Growing up we used Corelle dishes that seemed unbreakable & lasted forever. My grandmother gave me a set 🍽️ over 45 years ago when I got my first solo Apt. I still have a couple of plates & cereal bowls left that I use every day. They are so easy to clean. And I still have/ use a very well made insulated coffee tumbler I was gifted at Xmas 2017, from the coffee chain with a mermaid on the green awning with the idea that you buy it for $30 & get a free cup of coffee everyday in January… except I was traveling a lot that January and was able to stop in to get free coffee wherever I drove. Anyway, although it’s only a midsized 16oz Grande cup its sides are so thick to insulate that it looks like a large sized Venti cup that is still going strong. ☕️

I have a 1st century Roman coin I found which I guess is the oldest thing I own - though I've only owned it for 18 years 🙂 Other than that most of my belongings I've had for over 10 years - which isn't so much a brag as a) I don't own much as I'm a minimalist and b) I really need my environment to stay as much the same as possible as I don't cope with change well, so my house has remained the same as when I first moved in. I did buy a new laptop when my other one which is about 12 years old started to work very slowly and several of the keys stopped working and the screen started needing something to prop it up, but I didn't get rid of it, I keep it in my kitchen and use it to watch videos while I cook 🙂

Love this idea! I'm going to start thinking about how long I've had my stuff. Off the top of my head, i still have a bottle of Dr Bronner's soap from like..10+ years ago. For some reason i bought like 4-6 bottles and have been working through them using a little bit at a time to refill foaming soap dispensers over the years etc. Honestly I'll be sad when this last one is gone. The other thing i can think of is the ceramic "bowl" i use to store my large utensils on my counter. I bought it i think my senior year of college - someone at my school made it and sold it there. That was at least 13 years ago.

You meantion your(or dan's?) laptop which is super impressive that it still runs 8 years later because in my experience laptops get outdated quickly. I found a brand that I like that id like to share if you ever need a future upgrade: Framework's it is a relatively small company (compared to other tech producers) and they focus is making a laptop that is upgradeable. You can even game on it if you go with the AMD CPU !

I honestly don't like acer because they tend to overheat. My sister had one and the motherboard fried itself basically. When i bought mine i asked a friend who has a backround in it and they said that i should avoid acer, hp, asos and a few more. I bought a laptop from lenovo and it still works to this day 10 years later. I only switched out and quatrupelt the RAM and spend 100 Euroa for that a few years ago and it was so worth it.
