Celebrity Cruises Breaks Barriers: Celebrity Edge Sets Sail With The First All-Female Bridge Team

Celebrity Cruises is celebrating International Women's Day this year with a first-of-its-kind sailing.
On March 8th, 2020 Celebrity Edge set sail with the first entirely female bridge and officer team. This crew is made up of 25 women and represents 17 different countries.
Captain Kate McCue has expressed how proud of her team as well as how honored she is to be part of the historic sailing that is to come.
Onboard, there will be female change-makers, trailblazers in their respective fields including artists, designers and sports professionals among other inspiring women hosting various events, on top of the countless activities offered on the ship.

Captain Kate was my captain on the Celebrity Equinox last year. Her announcements were absolutely hilarious and she kept the entire crew and passengers laughing. It was the best❤️

I meet with Captain Kate a few years back right she was married and still on vacation she dropped her go pro camera in the water at Peggys Cove, and told me all about drying it out. Loved the Ship cruise with Captain Kate ❤️🌈.

We sailed w.ith Captain Kate to Bermuda in 2016. We have never been able to board and disembark a ship so early. Never felt endangered as she sailed us around a near hurricane tropical storm.

My first thought was why have celebrity made an all female bridge team, what for? But then I realised this is historic, why not, it breaks barriers and inspires the next generation of girls who want to be a part of an industry that has always been very male dominated. Welll done celebrity!

Unlikely and a pity, I worked with a number of female bridge officers and cadets as far back as the early 80s but never came across a female engineering officer.
