Junaid Akram is not an actor. He is the guy whose genre is “Moral Policing” and criticizing the public on what’s good and what’s bad. Jab koi Banda screen pr a ke Bara bhai ban rha hai to it should be against his basic morality and conscience to promote paid churan let alone political agenda!

Ho sakta hai usne sach mei kuch morally upright baatein kari ho lekin paid promotions are the source of his income. Going after someone for doing exactly that is not really meaningful.

the main problem with Junaid Akram is that he should have mentioned that it is a paid campaign or there should have been written "ad" on that video.Thats basic decency.Making Paid content and showing it as your opinion is what most people have problem with.

I'm myself following JA for many years but I do want to point one difference here. There is difference between selling products like eletronics, cars or cosmetics and selling a state propaganda. No equivalence can be established between these. The least he could do was to explicitly state that its a paid content. Ethically if any celebrity or influencer is doing any paid promotion for any political party then they should mention that it is a paid promotion. If they aren't doing that then they are lying and making a fool of their audience or fans. So I believe people have every right to be upset.
Junaid Akram is not a celebrity in the traditional sense. He is someone who talked about the issues of the country through comedy. His message was direct to the people without filter through new media. People grew to trust him to call a spade a spade. He has lost that trust amongst many of his watchers. Secondly one expects better from celebrities. In this polarizing time where the current government came out with a harsh budget for the masses they should at least remain neutral. I don’t think the average Pakistani takes political advice from celebrities, they are just calling them out for being elitist.
I mean, there's a clear distinction here. Advertising shampoos or everyday products is largely harmless, promoting problematic (including PTI) political parties isn't. Influencers should be held to a higher standard, they're actively peddling propaganda. If Babar Azam/Fawad Khan start pushing TLP rhetoric or far right talking points tomorrow, why should the nature of their jobs absolve them from criticism?
The reason why people are outraged about Junaid Akram is because they expected better for him as he puts a lot of educational content talks about making Pakistan a better place. Talk about the social economic issues of Pakistan & how we can fix them. and I’ve heard him claim a lot many times that he’s staying in Pakistan just because he wants to make Pakistan a better place and how he could’ve stayed in England and his life would’ve been so easy He would be earning dollars his monetization would be different as you-tubers get paid more in England and other countries so when you put yourself on pedestal in front of the audience. They know that Indians have a much larger presence on social media, and many of them enjoy listening to RU-vidrs like Junaid Akram, who criticize Pakistani society while praising Indian society-even for issues that Indians themselves complain about and sometimes leave India over. RU-vidrs like Junaid Akram owe their popularity to their Indian viewers and fans. The same is true for Syed Muzzamil. These RU-vidrs were never intellectuals and have been doing this for a long time. Don't be surprised if you see more and more RU-vid content creators from Pakistan following this trend which is set by Junaid Akram. :) Peace!

If Junaid Akram were selling ACs and refused to sell ACs or Mariyam N then that’s his own personal decision, it’s not impacting or influencing anyone. However he is a RU-vidr, he has the ability to spread information/misinformation. In the past he spoke about how he was offered to host comedy shows on TV but refused because they only wanted him to trash certain politicians. This change in Junaid Akram’s moral stand is what’s offending people. With the current genocide in Gaza if someone came to Junaid and told him they would pay him X amount of money for posting a Instagram story supporting Israel, would it be acceptable for him to make such a post, because it’s his “danda”? The main point to ponder is about the hypocrisy of masses. It’s not about who did campaign and for whom they did but the main point is We people accept anything coming from that person who in our opinion is right irrespective of thinking how much destructive it can be for our country. Moreover, please don’t put social responsibility on others while being biased. People here start to question deen, iman and morals of others on the basis of different opinion. Celebraties do make money like paid promotions and product placement but this is nothing like that. This is a political propoganda campaign right in the face of suffering people of pakistan and telling them that their suffering is invalid. None of these people had any integrity just like the politicians they are promoting. This was a shameful act and its refreshing to see pakistani people absolutely rejecting it.
