I love that the voiceover guy was so proud of the little editing trick that he spent 30 seconds talking about it in the middle of a train video also I think train fans would probably appreciate it too, because of the way they are
I thought this was gonna be a sneak peak into celebrities having private trains the same way they have private jets, and in a way I was right, just smaller.
I'm commenting on this video not just because I think it is very good and all the gundam jokes had me doing leo points, but also because given that this is about model trains, you're going to need all the help with the algorithim that you can get.
As a dork who’s loved model trains their entire life and grew up watching other videos from TM this review was hilarious. Good work! Also the reason the 1957 “Girl’s Train” is kind of a big deal among collectors is because, unsurprisingly, it was a massive flop and sold so horribly that all the unsold stock ended up being painted into regular train colors instead. It’s very rare to find an original Girl’s Train today as a result.
@@Petemonster62 In my experience, just about every remake of the Girl's Train is considered collectible. Nowhere near the astronomical prices an original will go for, but still high considering what it is.
I'm a huge model toy train enthusiast myself as well a huge fan of TM Books and Video. The reason why they filmed Frank Sinatra's layout after his passing was because back in 74 when Sinatra called TM for one of their Lionel train books, they didn't make videos at the time and not to mention that Sinatra was very popular and they wouldn't have been able to film it in the years prior to his passing. The guy telling the story is the founder and owner of TM Books and Video Tom McComas, who is a friend of mine and one of the people who got me interested in collecting toy trains and that was filmed inside his studio in Michigan City, Indiana where he makes many productions on toy trains, such as the very popular I Love Toy Trains series. It is indeed a relaxing hobby and I along with many other enthusiasts agree and we all love and enjoy the loud sounds of the trains and the accessories, the coal loader shown is from the pre and post war period of WWII so they used the technology they had back in the day, which were often AC current Pullmor motors. Each layout builder and enthusiast approaches differently and that is part of why this hobby is so much fun. Also the runtime on these videos vary because they include previews of other toy train productions.
The Mandy section had me in stitches, never before have I laughed with such vigour at the idea of children's redwood dreams being shaved down to good old planks of uniformity
So growing up, I had this friend. And his younger sibling was really into trains. Like... really. Really into them. Like, putting pictures on the wall of trains kissing. But he had also memorized every single thing about the entire history of trains, streetcars, buses, etc. Train people are just... different.
I remember my mum used to keep pollos loose in the cup holder of her car and one day i reached down and took one for a delicious pre school pick me up and it was a tooth... Thanks for the walk down memory lane Owen. I use O gauge myself.
It amazes me how hilarious every video is. I somehow never expect to laugh at much on the mindless scroll of youtube, but this popping up in the subs is always a cut above. Thank you.
Not got much to say about polo holes but remember solero shots? Because of a lack of proper cold chain distribution in the UK it often meant that you'd just get a big mass of lime ball bearings stuck together in the bottom of a container that looked a walnut whip. Remember walnut whips?
My favourite discontinued polo product is the space elevator ride with the polo wrap-around that used to be at the Blackpool Pleasure Beach before being moved to a park in Morecambe before being shut down.
Brings up memories of my grandfather building up some model trains some Christmas. I stepped away, went to doo something else while he worked with the man who became my step father. I wish I'd joined in, now, but it's nice to remember him as he was, anyhow. Thank you for that.
I'll at least commend you for giving it an honest shot, as to someone outside the hobby it must look odd as all get-out. TM's production values are definitely homegrown, though I think they do a better job on their non-celebrity model train content. A Century of Lionel Trains, Lionel Nation, and The Golden Age of Toy Trains are some of my favorites. Seeing how others make their layouts is interesting, as no two are alike, and there are a lot of creative people out there. Often eccentric, I will grant you, but passionate people often are.
Weird that my old toy box is in your attic. Also: While those are some deep cut Gundam jokes, ye really got me with that Sullivan Bluth reference. A joke specifically for Irish animators AT LEAST in their 30s
Every railway modeler has his or her concept of what a model railway should be like & other modelers often look at the layout & immediately pick out something that they would do differently.
Your apparent need to make videos about only the most obscure topics guarantees that you will always be comfortably obscure. Comfortable, like a big boy blankey.
my favorite polo product was the "injection" based polo mint which came in a big syringe. it was basically the goo used to craft the normal polos but without the setting agent and you would squirt it into your mouth. it was discontinued after a girl in Devon injected several whole packages of them into her arm and died of mint overdose but i think most polo fans agree she knew what she was doing.
Whether or not Herman Goering can be considered a celebrity is a matter of opinion but he apparently had a fantastic model railway during his time as Hitlers deputy, he had some great hobbies actually.
Some men just need a little choo-choo in their life to spice things up. Also, who thought selling the holes from a polo was a good idea? You have to buy a package of the "holes" then put them in a polo shaped container.
Some of us mostly collect and resort antique trains. Some collectors also build layouts. Depending on your budget you can have any level of this hobby that fits your budget. Stick with the older style conventional (Pre 1970s) powered Lionel locomotives because there aren't any expensive electronics that are nearly impossible to repair.
Well youtuber who's interested in my opinion and not just my engagement, I'm a big fan of those fruity polos that got discontinued. I might be wrong about them being discontinued, but maybe someone will reply to this comment correcting me increasing the engagement loop
i will not comment because every great youtube channel makes its best work in its obscurity. no engagment for you. once you pass 100k subs its all downhill. you deserve it though.
In Henrico County, Virginia Polos are called Lifesavers. The way US healthcare works is you get prescribed the middle bit (called Oxycontin(tm) here) and when you inevitably get addicted and overdose you go and buy the "Lifesaver" to keep you alive and cripplingly indebted.
I really miss those Citrus Sharp Polos. The greenish lemon-lime ones. Sorry to all of the fans of the translucent Fruit Polos, but they were just too sticky.
