I'm a gay white man who served 33 years Full-Time in our army (Australia), and I was ordered to tell everyone I worked with that I'm gay. My Warrant Officer said "They have a right to know who they're working with". After that, no promotions, nil advancement. Kept sidelined for the next 16 years in non mainstream positions. Felt like ending it everyday. People were allowed to treat me however they wanted. Out of the army nowadays but a total mental mess after how I was treated.

I'm gay and I expect no preferential treatment. Many of my straight friends know about me. When I came out to my sister years ago she said "Oh I already knew that" I said why didn't you tell me, she said it wasn't her place to bring it up. We're closer than ever and she will never allow anyone to speak ill of her big brother. I don't go to gay clubs nothing but pickup joints. On marriage I'm old school one man and one woman. I'm not calling another man "my husband" or "boyfriend" I live alone and that's the way I like it. No one night stands either. I don't support LGBTQ either.

They're in danger of losing their credibilty as a love interest of their audience once they come out. What woman would dream about a man she knows is gay? From a financial pov, the LGBT crowd is simply too small to cater to - just too little revenue! So how many films with gay topics can you name? The occasional gay character on a TV show may be included to get that audience, too, but they will certainly not drive viewer rates into the orbit.
