i am super late for this lol
originally started for MarkAlarm's Celeste.smc smw romhack, but he didn't need parts 2 and 3. after release i decided to finish the remaining parts. the aim was for accuracy! enjoy chapter 2 old site music

This is incredible! Might I ask how you made samples so accurate? Like did you sample and isolate them directly from the original song or did you track down the individual sources used for it? I'd like to make one of these with this level of accuracy.

thanks! for the synths it was really easy to recreate them myself as they're just sine/square/sawtooth waves mixed in different ways. i ripped the pianos from some piano soundfonts/vsts i had lying around. the drums were really the only thing that were ripped directly from the song because i managed to find lena raine talking about them in an interview where she isolated them. i'm sure she's talked about where she got them from and there's people who've tracked several of the sources of her instruments too.

@@Maxodex Thanks for the help! Is there a specific software/vst you'd recommend for the wave mixing? (I am very new to music production, sorry if this is a stupid question.)

@@bluetoad07 depends on your daw, i use fl studio and it comes with either super powerful stock synth plugins like harmless, harmor and sytrus, or very efficient and simple ones like 3xosc and simsynth. i'm not a good music producer so i don't really know much about this sorta stuff either, but i've heard surge, helm and vital basic are some of the best free synth vsts. all that said, i didnt use any of it, i literally just mixed and matched simple individual waveforms in different channels LOL, lena doesn't really use subtractive synthesis or FM or anything like that. the main arpeggio synth in the intro is just two octaved sine waves.

I take it you managed to use the original drums and splice them into this? The drums are by far the most identical part of the entire thing, and the rest of the song is just as accurate.
