An amazing tale, as are all of Baldermorts. I love the Celestial Lions, because they dare(d) to be true to themselfs, not bowing for convinience or political "tact". While I get that an Inquisitor must make the hard calls and "Error on the side of caution." is a real thing, there still is a quote from a book I adore "Survival alone is not enough" it roughly translates. As for the Daddy Smurf and the Lion ... I don't think our Boy in Blue is going to do anything realy. If he finds out he will have talks, I would guess, he would take some cosmetic action and pout in private, but in doing? Nope. Would be to much of a risk or some BS. The Lion? Well, when he is done with family-therapie in another 10k years, he and his remaining boys will - depending on the therapist - either cover it all up, including the fact there ever was therapie, hunt down those who pointed at the wrong parts of the puppet and kill those who indeed take the meds, or there might indeed come a pleasing surprise and someone might start doing what is right for the sake of it.

For such a necessary evil, I am still unable to respect the Inquisition as a whole. I can respect individuals, but there is far too much about the Inquisition that I hate to fully enjoy their existence. For example this story here about the Celestial Lions. A handful of vengeful and bitter individuals causing the downfall of a Chapter purely because they are upset at their opposition for protecting innocent lives. This is also why I love the Space Wolves as they are the only chapter that can openly and truly oppose the Inquisition and even Grey Knights without consequence lasting as long as the Celestial Lions are experiencing here. The Celestial Lions are unfortunately a "secondary" Chapter. They aren't truly that, but in name they do not carry the same weight as Space Wolves, Ultramarines, Blood Angels or their brothers of the Imperial Fists. The same COULD be said for the Black Templars, but they are basically a splinter faction of Imperial Fists as opposed to a successor. If you are not a Founding Chapter, you are at a higher risk of incurring the wrath of selfish, self serving parts of the Imperium.. and of those there are many. Even at the door of destruction, there are those fully willing to sacrifice their best warriors and scholars all for short-term gain for themselves. Even if they are not of Chaos allegiance and are - in their own mind - fully devoted to the Emperor, they still put their own desires ahead of that of millions, billions.. TRILLIONS of lives. Only Robute Guilliman and Lion El'Jonson can truly make a difference in this. Or maybe the Chapter Masters of founding chapters as they hold the sway of a Primarch in their absence. The Lion is probably the best bet for this necessary purge. Guilliman is not a weak combatant among the Primarchs, but he is a scholar, a well-meaning politician (one of exceptionally few) and a Statesman. He is not the warrior his brother The Lion is. But by the Emperor is he a warrior still. I just think that Lionel El'Jonson holds far more rage that would be effectively used against such a faction. They only understand might, not words. The anger and rage of the Dark Angels with all their weapons accessible in their armory. It will take a brief, but brutal, civil war among the Inquisition and the Dark Angels and Ultramarines to set things right. Brief enough that it will not be questionable that this held a service that was NOT Heresy. No civilian lives lost unlike that of the Horus Heresy. This was a strong story to listen to. I feel for the Celestial Lions for having to endure such treason.

I always love the story of the Lions, a "what if" that always comes to my mind. what if the Space Wolves were made aware of this situation? The animosity between the wolves and the Inquisition is known. I bet they would have done everything in their power to assist the Lions and persecute the Inquisition

Makes the Friday of a long weekend a little better, being able to listen to my favorite Warhammer narrator. You for sure deserve it considering your Astra Militarum videos have single-handedly got me to play the Militarum.

Baldermort is in a league of his own as a 40k loremaster, and I love everything he does. This must be the first time I've found myself reluctant to listen to one of his podcasts, because I know how sad a tale it is for the poor old lions. I'm 51 years old. I really need to grow up.

my anger towards the Inquisition grew tenfold when reading the armageddon books, and my respect to the Lions only inqrised. despite knowing they had a target painted on their backs, walking into possible ambushes. they still performed their duty as Astartes with heads held high

An Out of Universe reason the Celestial Lions were destroyed?? Cause the player who piloted them during the actual Armageddon events kept losing to the Ork players... Same reason the Black Templars failed their space assault... This is part of why 40k lore is awesome, it sometimes changes with actual games played between nerds around the world.. and eventually we get our Humble Sevant and preferred narrator, Baldermort!

The first depiction of Amun bludgeoning an enemy with a club is 5000 years old, imagine that at millennium 41 the emperor belongs to a time TWICE that old, imagine if were were all still praying to pharaohs and then stretch it twice the time they have been around, and then imagine a bunch of people who have been around outright killing people in the pharaoh name for about the same long, with no questions asked what so ever about how they do their business... how do you believe that kind of people would function upstairs? After 10000 years of absolute power 🤔
