I totally agree, this mount is great for a grab and go setup. I've had one for around 3 years and still use it (also have an EQ mount). Normally do the Auto two star alignment and that's it. For lunar and solar imaging is really good. Also for wide field photos (keeping the exposures low and been aware of field rotation), with a small refractor (or wide field camera lens) and a dslr. Nice review, keep it up!

did you do a follow up video showing what kind of pictures of view this telescope can see?

Hello, I would love to buy my first telescope and I watched bunch of videos and feel completely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of informations. This one to me seems like a nice starting one and also the price fits exactly my expected budget. Do you think this is good for someone completely new? Is it also possible to take a photos through it's eyepiece?

I think it would be a great telescope for you! It’ll show you a lot! You can connect a camera to the diagonal in the back to take pictures of the moon and such. You can also get a phone adapter to take pictures through the eyepiece with your smartphone if you want to go that direction too!

thanks for the great review. Just wondering, would it make sense to eventually buy a EQ mount and put this OTA on that for deep sky photography?
@MaximumAstronomy
@MaximumAstronomy Год назад
It is a wonderful telescope for planetary photography. The planets, the moon and the sun with a proper filter are great with this. Not so much deep sky photography since it has a longer focal length which generally makes for darker photos with its slower optical design versus other telescopes out there. Your best bet is to invest in something like an 80mm refractor with an EQ mount and start taking wider field deep sky photos and keeping this for higher power photography of the planets and the moon! :)

@@MaximumAstronomy thanks! I'm going to order the scope this week so I'll let you know how it goes :)

@wenderbresolin4037 I bought this scope 10 days ago and its my first scope so obviously its been raining since (uk weather) but I did manage to see Jupiter's clouds moons and Saturn's rings a hole lot better than I thought, they was so clear it got both my sons excited, so from a serious amateur o would recommend this to anyone starting out

Thanks for the great review! It would've been great to see it in action or see some sample pictures. I'm definitely considering buying it.

Can you see deep space objects like nebula and constellations. Can’t find a good telescope. Had to return two telescopes. I had the Sky-Watcher Gtj 150p in which the alignment would never hold and I always had to manually confirm each object and it would be off every time even after three star alignment. Very disappointed for a computerized system.

I’m wanting to purchase this l, but I’m reading that people are having problem with alignment and not being accurate. This fits my budget but I’m kind of worried of purchasing because of the alignment issue I keep reading. Can you run this manually?
@MaximumAstronomy
@MaximumAstronomy Год назад
You cannot run this manually. As for the mount. There are some good ones and some bad ones. As with any mass produced product so you will have to test one out and see if it meets your standards. But it’s a fantastic telescope as a whole and it will let you dive deep into the hobby.

Hey what would you recommend for far DSO astrophotography? This or the sky watcher virtuoso gti 150? Or even the 130?
@MaximumAstronomy
@MaximumAstronomy 5 месяцев назад
Hello! For astrophotography you’ll want a telescope with the lower f/ratio for brighter images, quicker. I believe the 150 or the 130 are both f/5 reflectors which would give a big advantage over this at f/12. This telescope excels at planetary and lunar where the other two you mentioned won’t deliver as much resolution on those. But for deep sky the lower f/ratio will yield far better

@@MaximumAstronomythank you, but I want to use a dslr. And I think that won't work on the sky watchers, is it true?

Good morning my friend! Do you know how long the 8 batteries last? I'm thinking about buying 8 rechargeable Duracell batteries, but I don't know how many hours they will last. And I need this idea to know whether to buy 8 batteries or 16 batteries (their price is high!)
@MaximumAstronomy
@MaximumAstronomy Год назад
AA batteries normally last about 6 hours I found. So you’ll get a good night out of them but if you’re moving the telescope a lot to different targets you’ll drain them quicker. Temperature also affects the performance too. I recommend a 12V power supply with a cable that will run this. Amazon sells small ones for about $50 that will work great for running this all night long or for a weekend camping.

Hey for some reason this was like a 400 dollar setup last year now it’s like 600 what’s going on with that?
@MaximumAstronomy
@MaximumAstronomy Год назад
I know! They were a lot cheaper a few years ago. All of Celestrons lineup has increased by 20% it seems as costs have risen sadly. I remember when the Nexstar 8SE was $1099 and it was an amazing value, now they’re $1600 by themselves.

is there a "wedge" available for this to make it behave like the EQ mounts. Is the tracking good enough for photos? Thanks for the nice videos.
@MaximumAstronomy
@MaximumAstronomy Год назад
Hello! There is not a wedge available for one of these that I know of. The tracking should be good enough for doing wide field Milky Way shots, and high power planetary imaging.

@@MaximumAstronomy Except that as an Alt-Az mount, you'd have to add a field rotrator for anything but every short exposures. I have an old N5 and it works great for visual astronomany - I have done LOTS of viewing - but not astro-photograhy.
