The crowd feel the music and energy just because much of the instruments used in salsa and Latino music are African. We have all to thank our African brothers for all those sounds and that vibe!
Latino music is not from Africa lmao but nice try. We have influences from Europe and our own native americans. Like polka being the grandfather to cumbia
Johnny Pacheco stole the show with his dance moves 🤣 so cute. Our Queen Celia brilliant as always, I’m so proud of that woman. What’s great about Latinos is that we can be of any race but still share pretty much the same culture by Language and music, this was the Fania, Cubans, Dominicans and Puerto Ricans, the trinity of the Caribbean, viva la Salsa!, viva Celia Cruz! y viva nuestra hermosa cultura hispana.
Celia was and still is our Super Mega Star of Salsa; she hasn’t died, she’s immortal; she lives in my heart. She sang through four decades. Long Live our Celia.
I loved when I walked from my house to the Malecon to see the carnival, I could see all this people getting around, together singing and dancing to the sound of La Vida es un Carnaval. I'll never forget those beautiful times and all thanks to that song 💕
Can you feel it in your blood? Yes my friend, are the african roots calling us from mama's land. My grand grand grand father was first generation of free man in Argentina, and I couldn't be more proud of it. Maybe the color of my skin don't show it, but the drums call me and I just can't stop dancing, like my old ones back in África.
I'm not Hispanic and understand very little Spanish, but music is a universal language and you can understand the energy and joy of Celia Cruz. I was fortunate enough to see her perform live four times. All wonderful! I love Celia Cruz!
Being Cuban, not only do I appreciate having known Celia Cruz’s music, but I’m oh so grateful for those who don’t speak or understand Spanish and yet recognize and enjoy and love what Celia left us. THANK YOU ♥️
The golden era of Salsa with the Fania AllStars, Hector Lavoe, Johnny Pacheco, Ruben Blades, Celia Cruz and many others that are now legends, please check Joe Arroyo - La Rebelion (No Le Pegue A La Negra) which is Colombian Salsa and for true African roots in Latin America react also to Grupo Kazzabe - Sei Sei Bei (La Parranda) from Honduras. Thanks for taking me back to my childhood memories as I remember this music being played at our house parties and my departed Mother embarrassing me by taking me out to dance as I was only 8 yrs old.................................Good Times, Good Times!
Celia is the queen of salsa. It wasn’t just about her incredible voice, to us she’s a goddess of light. She had an incredibly difficult life but always spread joy no matter what, watch her interviews. She’s our Tina Turner in that regard.
Hispanic Caribbean trifecta right here. Johnny Pacheco as orchestrator from the Dominican Republic , Celia Cruz from Cuba singing and the rest of the All Stars from Puerto Rico. And they’re all sharing their african/latin based music back to the homeland, Africa. Beautiful
She is the Queen of Latin Music.. All the Latin country love her She's a diva And the best thing that came out of Cuba Also I recommend that you listen to Benny More Hes another great composer and singer of Cuba he is the one who created Mambo
Black heritage, I think many African-American brothers have no idea how wide their culture is, of the mark they have left on salsa or merengue. they have the wonder of soul, rap among others but they also have the wonder in latin music. The flavor and rhythm that we Latinos have is black heritage

i have seen the Fania All Stars, Celia Cruz and other Latin artists throughout the years... this concert was held the week of the Ali - George Foreman fight in Zaire... Que Viva La Musica !!
Yo handsome!...so nice you got this channel of yours! Thank you for your feedback. She is just the queen of Salsa...and you're right: such a great orchestra in 1974! this is how they played their instruments to do this such a trascendental, outstanding performance! Fania All Stars and Celia!!
AZUCAR!! From the island of Cuba🇨🇺 to the World🌎!!!❤️❤️❤️ Celia was and always will be... the Queen of Salsa!! That Afro-Cuban rhythm makes you move!🎶🎶
Salsa is my adiction, the queen Celia Cruz and Fania All Stars, the other voices,Héctor Lavoe, Santos Colón, Ismael Quintana, Cheo Feliciano!!! Salutes from Colombia.
My boy, this is the greates band ever created on the face earth ,fania all star, all super musicians from the caribbean, there is nothing like that now days !!!
Once you go black you never go back... "Latin black"? You tear up your return ticket and enjoy the ride. What a powerful video. Thanks for showing it. I've never seen this one... Azucar!
The origin of this concert was the Rumble in the Jungle: Muhammad Ali vs George Foreman. There was a documentary made of the concert before the fight called Soul Power. There is also about an hour of extra footage of Fania All Stars that is separate from Soul Power called Celia Cruz and the Fania Allstars In Africa 1974 Concert. Both are must see concerts
I like watching Africa Americans reacted to Africa Hispanic singers they don't understand what there saying and never heard the rhythm before but instantly they know it and start to move.. There only scratching the surface of endless rhythm in Spanish and what they have been missing out on ...
Yup, in one of his other videos I left a comment about the symbolism in the music, I'm Afrolatino so it's part of my culture. I think he is Afro American so he may not know much about Ifa and the Orishas.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that music predates religion. African tribes have been making music for a long time. Salsa is a mix of rhythms, from multiracial roots.
Mexico La sonora Mantacera in 1959 gave Celia the opportunity to let her light shine all over the world. We love her ! Forever she will be our queen of Salsa!
If you loved Celia Cruz energy and music on the stage you MUST look for Joe Arroyo he also made dance even the scepticals as Mrs Cruz he was all party and joy 😂😀😀😀😀
That conductor is Johnny Pacheco. A giant.... GIANT in the Latin salsa world. for decades. He is El Maestro. BIG names up on that stage on every instrument playing. wow
You might also enjoy Fania All Stars' performance of El Raton, it also occurred during this very same event. Another one from that showcase, Sweet Sixteen by BB King.
I haven't heard this song in years. Being of both Dominican and Cuban origin, this music was my jam growing up. Celia was our queen and boy was her energy contagious! I'm glad you enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed growing up with her music.
Thx for appreciating our queen of salsa. She’s been gone for over a decade now but was and still is the most prominent star for Hispanics and all lovers of our music around the world!!
SO GLAD YOU DID THIS PERFORMANCE OF MY DEAR CELIA CRUZ . THE WORLD SHOULD BE DANCING INSTED FIGHTING AND KILLING ESCH OTHER..PEACE AND LOVE ✌️MY LOVE AND RESPECT TO MISS CELIA CRUZ 🙏
Hey Jamal! I had the great fortune to see Celia Cruz and Tito Punte at Kimballs East in Oakland CA in the early 90s. I will never forget! Everyone in the place was dancing, everyone. bartenders waiters even the security guards. Ever since thats what I think heaven will be like. No hate ,no differenced, just pure love and rhythmic joy all together dancing.
I love the footage of the audience. They are having such a good time. It is a beautiful thing to witness. Celia not only had an amazing voice, but she was a brilliant performer. She radiated joy and passion and transmitted that to her audience. What a gift she was.
Que tal amigo, buen video y reaccion, ahora reacciona a "MI GENTE DE HECTOR LAVOE EN AFRICA" un gran cantante salsero y maximo idolo de la musica de genero llamado SALSA, Saludos..
Dude, this is EXACTLY what I wanted you to react to! No music in the Americas has as much African flavor and lifeblood like Salsa from Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and, of course, my little island paradise, Puerto Rico :) Seeing a brother getting it and appreciating it fills me with so much joy, man.
Hi Jamal! I remember well, I was still a child, but I remember well, because at that time all this was THE THING in school, in the street, on TV, everywhere! This concert was epic, not only because Fania All Stars was perhaps the best salsa orchestra of all times, and Celia the absolute star (la reina de la salsa), but also because of the context where it was performed: during the legendary fight between Ali, THE GREATEST, and a though stone-hard Foreman!!! The whole thing was promoted by Don King and the congolese dictator Mobutu Sese Seko, in a public relations effort to drive away the attention of his bad bad record, having murdered the great congolese independence leader Patrice Lumumba... All this background was ALSO part of this concert and this music (rumba), which like Ali, also "came back home" after some centuries in the Americas... I think it is important to know this context, cuz`this was not just "music"! (I am sure our african orishas (Regla de Ochà) and all the congolese deities of our Regla Kimbisa were also present!) maferefun yekua babà! el orisha volvio a su ilè... greetings from Chile
Celia Cruz made Afro Latinos so proud and continues to make us proud. In my dads side of the family we have Cuban ancestors that escaped from Cuba and ended up in Chiapas Mexico. We don’t really claim our Cuban side because we know nothing about our Cuban family or what happened to them. Sad but I can’t deny when I hear that salsa music my body just 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
The brass was just top. We have Vitin Paz, first trumpet, very skilled panamanian musician. The orchestra have excelent musicians. Top singers. Ismael, Cheo.
You got it or not, she had it and was the queen. Makes me feel proud of my music, I was thinking few days ago suggest a reaction of this video, thanks bro
Classic Celia and the AMAZING Fania All-Stars! So much fantastic energy and the beautiful smile on Celia's face, looking just like my abuela! so much fun! Thank you, Jamel for this wonderful video & reaction to the Queen of Salsa!
I love you bro I don’t know you but I appreciate you listening to my culture music much love and respect from MIAMI 305🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸…viva CUBAaaaa!!!!
