He was basically Lover, manager,Husband, father to her children and herself in some ways. She had it all, love and protection , talent and wealth..... Shame he had health problems and died. .... I do envy, but not in a jealous way, people who know what it feels like to be loved by someone. A person who brings out the best in you, who understands you, cares for you, is there for you, and essentially just loves who you are. Céline has been very fortunate in her life.

I believe it’s possible that how she felt for him, was a love. #1 because she claims it to be & she gets to dictate what she tells us & whether we believe her or not, this is what she’s stated & it’s morally fair IMO, to believe most ppl. I do not believe she’s trying to lie to anyone when she professes those emotions & sensations & meanings. And her experiences with what has been defined as love, for her, are her’s alone. As far as age…there is importance on age, as in stage of maturation. She met him during adolescence, led a childhood surrounded by adults, encouraging her natural talent and at some point, passion. Her schedule was not conducive to connect with peers outside of her home during childhood & it’s possible, due to her intensely knitted family, rejection outside of them, she quickly magnetized back to them, defying those sensations of not being accepted let alone as readily as she was with so many siblings & doting mother. When she began working with Renee, at 13…that’s an incredibly pivotal moment. She’s already nestled in her immense family, which took the place of outside peer connection; something humans are designed to begin seeking out around that age. And around that age we begin trying to find, not just peers our own age but also mentors and other stable, varying roles in people outside of our immediate genetic pool. There are the people we begin with, our blood family with their greatest impact in early childhood & then there is the moment we begin reaching outward, searching for our chosen family. It’s an incredibly important time in human maturation, as we are designed with a need & a purpose, to go outside the familial pool and blend with others in a myriad of ways. For Celine, it’s said she began reaching outside in her teen years, while she was building her career, made connections but was fairly immediately blocked from doing so, by Rene. He did not want to lose his prodigy & to him, it was supposed, that Celine connecting with others, especially romantic connections, seemed a threat to Rene’s desires. Which makes it seem that during this stage, important aspects of Celine’s world were dictated, not naturally with how she moved and progressed in her community, but by an adult man’s financial motive. I’m not blaming anyone here, just looking through a basic lens of important happenings that would directly affect & influence her growth. -So…Rene essentially represented, whether well or not for one individual, many people and roles that a human relies on in order to shape their own lens, perception, beliefs & to hold experience through. It may have been that Celine’s world would very heavily revolve and grow around Rene. And with whatever beliefs she attached to, there came a time, a biological need, to experience romantic partnership. With Rene being the most steadfast influence in her life, outside of her family pool…it could be proposed it was the likely outcome that Rene, regardless of his age, regardless of whether or not he added the most healthful impacts in all these ways meant for other people to facilitate, without the space & variety one is designed to thrive around, she wouldn’t have landed in anyone else’s arms but his. -I don’t think anyone understood these things back then. But more of us and more continually, are becoming educated more fully. And something like this would be seen as unhealthy…as stifling…as a deep seated, subconscious sealing of what could’ve been a more enriched, humanly appropriate, naturally intended outcome for her. We do call actions such as Rene’s with Celine, as grooming a child. And we understand the various affects on a growing child’s brain when they are sheltered away from seeking other relationships and outside world experiences. -I do think Céline holds a lot of emotion for Rene & it was built into as much of a love as she was allowed to cultivate from being so restricted to Rene’s influence. I do not think we would praise this nor allow it, today. But I don’t think we should judge or discount Celine’s experiences & emotions. She did nothing wrong. And if Rene did, it’s best IMO to take these understandings & do better going forward.
That's a nice concept but it's not true, everyone does not have a soul mate because if they did there would not be so many mismatched unhappy people in the world
“Love is love” when Celine met him at 12 and he was already married TWICE with children? I don’t want to say he groomed her but it seems he did and I believe she did end up loving him but the age difference when one is a child DOES matter and love can’t always just be love in that case. I know they say they got together in a romantic way after she was of age but I’m sure they would never say it if they got together before that or Rene would be charged with a crime. I know Celine’s mother was not happy about them being together and I don’t know what the situation was with her father or where he was in her life… lord help me if a twice married man over twice my daughter’s age ever tried to groom my young daughter. Unfortunately that age difference did make a difference as he passed away and left her a younger window with small children who won’t have their father as they grow up. It’s sad.
I don’t think I’ve seen a more genuine love in Hollywood than these two. Rene loved, nurtured and protected Celine with his life. He guided her through the land mines of the music industry and kept her stable. Whitney Houston is what happens when you have a partner who is NOT worthy of your love

They were truly in love with each other. He was a man that appeared to truly love her unconditionally, and was not just her husband, but also her best friend. Which is what we should be to each other. But that rarely happens. My heart aches for her, I can't even imagine her pain and sorrow. We love you Celine.
I love her soul. I grew up listening to her and watching her grow. She is the purest soul. When she speaks and sings. She was not groomed. He seemed very respectful and knew his boundaries and she made the right move when she was old enough. I think that’s what prevented a lot of judgement. Both of them handled everything accordingly and this is genuine love. These clips prove it.
After her announcement recently you can see how broken she really is, for Rene and for her fans. Her soulmate forever in her heart she will always be with him no matter what. THIS is true love
It is a concern, because I think that performing has sustained her and been her solace after losing René..it seems so unfair to have that taken from her too, especially if her illness takes away her ability to sing, even just for herself in the shower… but she has those three beautiful boys, they will keep her going.

I can’t imagine falling in love with someone whom is so much older knowing they will pass and leave you alone. I know Life offers no guarantees to anyone but it would be so difficult to lose the love of your life and you have to go on missing them each and every day wishing they were here with you. Some say it is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all but it would just be too emotionally hard for me to move forward alone. Everyone is different with their decision making and would rather take the chance.

I really felt deep sorrow in my heart for celine when she lost renee he may well have been 73 the same age as my father but he still died too soon there was still a few years left in him however celine dealt brilliantly with it she never let herself her children or her fans down I take my hat off to her for that

Ya! He became filthy rich and famous because of her of course he worshipped her. She was impressed that he cried at first hearing her sing,,of course he cried he knew he found the golden goose and egg 💰 She was also so touched and impressed that he mortgaged his wife’s and children’s home for Celine’s sake of her first album,,I’m betting that his wife was not happy about it in the least. He could have lost it and made them homeless. That’s a selfish gambler for you and I’m sure if the roles had been reversed and she had been that wife she would not have been singing him praises.
