Veena - Part 1: Arpezzato Cello
Arpezzato is a style of cello playing that uses finger techniques imported from the worlds of Pop/Rock, Blues Jazz and World fusion including: 'Arpeggio', ‘hammer-on’, ‘hammer-off’, ‘slide’, ‘pop’, ‘slap’, ‘strum’ and ‘Walking bass’. Over 40 techniques combine to create Arpezzato.
The name ‘Arpezzato’ combines the guitar-like ‘arpeggio’ with the word for string plucking: ‘pizzicato’.
Composed by Ivan Hussey, Veena takes its influence from the southern Indian Carnatic tradition and appears on the Celloman album: Arpezzato Cello.
