Nothing has changed my Irish heart's course like "Ancient Land"! It was a Celtic Woman pentacle enjoyed and deeply felt! When the concert was broadcast on PBS, life was more simple for me, and by a kind act of fate, I fell in love forever!
celtic woman doing original songs makes me soooooo happy. and eabha and mairead’s voices together remain one of the best vocal pairings in celtic woman’s history. i’m obsessed.
Lyrics and translation. When the crash of the thunder Is heard on the shore Wake from your dream Slumber no more When the wild seabirds cry In the eye of the storm Come follow me When the flashes of lightning Are slashing the sky Over the tide Wild horses ride Over the sea Come follow me Chorous Trasna na dtonnta tagann Over the waves comes Manannán mac lir Manannán Mac Lir Farraige ‘tá corraithe anocht The sea is wild tonight Trasna na dtonnta tagann Manannán mac lir Eagla ar shaibhir ‘s ar bhocht He puts fear in both rich and poor Can you hear on the air As you dream without sleep Over the waves From caverns deep Comes the song of the underworld Land of the sídhe Under the sea I am wind, I am sky I am calling you home Over the waves Over the foam Come follow me Come follow me Chorous Trasna na dtonnta tagann Manannán mac lir Farraige ‘tá corraithe anocht Trasna na dtonnta tagann Manannán mac lir Eagla ar shaibhir ‘s ar bhocht Male Singers Groinneall na farraige The sea's dark heart Dubhagán na mara The ocean's dark depts Groinneall na farraige Dubhagán na mara Groinneall na farraige Dubhagán na mara Groinneall na farraige Dubhagán na mara Ó thuaidh ó theas From the north from the south Soir is siar East and west Saol eile Another life Faoi gheasa Under a spell Light of sun Radiance of moon Sky, earth, sea Hear my cry Carry on the wind Shield me Chorous Trasna na dtonnta tagann Manannán mac lir Farraige ‘tá corraithe anocht Trasna na dtonnta tagann Manannán mac lir Eagla ar shaibhir ‘s ar bhocht Male Singers Groinneall na farraige Dubhagán na mara ... Ó thuaidh ó theas Soir is siar Saol eile Faoi gheasa Manannan Mac Lir: In irish mythology Manannán Son of Lir was the God of the Seas. Not a bloke you'd want to upset. Sídhe: In irish mythology the Sídhe are the guardians of the underworld, They live in "fairy mounds" scattered throughout the country. You don't want to upset these either.
I also love the Celtics women, that are absolutely amazing and breathtaking and beautiful. Wonderful singing.. this my friends is what ones selves call Awesomness .. delightful Awesomness ..
Best line-up ever. So natural and so unique each of her individual voices. An when they sing together, it takes you to new heights. There's something about adding the contralto register to the harmony. It sounds so full and complete. Ava's voice is so welcoming, beautiful, and haunting. Megan's is so natural, and effortless, and attractive; and Mairéad's agility and effortlessly incredible vocals and her spontaneity, and freedom of body movement are the cherry on the cake. I really enjoy and miss this kind careless and effortless talent.
Love the ensemble, but I never understood why Tara is considered part of the 'Celtic Woman' rather than simply one of the female orchestra members. It was quite understandable that violinist Máiréad Nesbitt was part of the CW as she actually performed and entertained but Tara didn't replace that entertainment.
