I love how they are dancing barefoot. It reminds me of young Irish sisters, and the youngest one wants to impress sailors in another town, but her sisters try to convince her not to
This is my favorite CW performance. To me, the really mind-boggling bit is that if you aren't watching the video, you can't _hear_ the moment when the ladies' feet come off the ground in that carousel maneuver.
I went to their concert in Gainesville Fl. Boy that is when of those times you will never forget at the age of 13 I went and still when im 103 I still will never forget the moment!
There are a couple of postings on RU-vid from people who used their cell phones to record it, but they aren't of good quality and really don't give a good feel to how the musical "argument" went (it was absolutely hilarious!) The best way to watch this was definitely LIVE!

I saw them for the anniversary tour this year and they sang this song but in it's original language. Loved the show even of they did not sing my favorite songs, The Voice and Scarborough Fair.
ME ME ME🧚🏽♀️💃🧚🏼♂️💃🧚 btw, dyed my red hair black and now I want my hair back... Immediately. And a dress. And a ticket to British Isles. And a fine sailor. And reels and jigs and maybe more...
It was just some "dai dai dat diddlies" kind of thing. It was like an argument without words... But you knew what was going on. Chloe is gorgeous in person! They're all really lovely women.
oh yeah Emerald tour loved it!! btw in the M&G Chloe asked my permission to interact with me during her part of the skit... i had a CW hoodie on cause it was a outside venue and was a bit chilly. heard Chloe start her battle cry in the aisle came from behind pulled my hoodie over my head and ran back around to pull off...her smile afterwards was cheeky and devious too hehehe i died atleast 50 times inside from keeping my laughter in too!! adore Chloe so much!!
That video is one of their most watched and commented on. It has Chloe, Mairead, Lisa L and Susan. It was filmed in Indiana and is on youtube. Just have to look for it. Their "argument " was a spur of the moment thing to give Susan and Mairead time for a costume change from what u have heard. And it was a blast.
Does anybody know who the choir is singing with Celtic Woman, especially the men? They seem very familiar but I can't figure out who they are even when Googling them.
Hey guys sorry that I have said things that'd piss off any irish person, I'd never known all these things before but really sorry bout that. Thanks for listening
what is the song talking about? it's one of favorites, but i get confused on what is going on. i know lisa's part a girl who wants to go dancing in galway, but the other two singers' parts are confusing me. can someone tell me
Way late, but basically the main character in this story is a teenage girl who has been sneaking out to the nearby town and flirting with sailors (whatever that means exactly) from a nearby town because she longs for the world beyond her village (reason for that not being specified), and is now planning on leaving and going with the sailors to see more of the world, the night past the day when the song is sung being her last night before leaving, and the other people in the song are convincing her to go to a dance in the village that's happening that evening and dance with one of the men, a musician, who knows about her adventure and is willing to give her a chance, and whom she likes as a person, but she is being stubborn and trying to convince the ones who are trying to make her stay to let her go. In light of the “give her a chance thing”, and the fact that she's banking on the sailors wanting her around long-term, it's quite likely that the flirting with sailors thing is ... rather a classical example of a teenager being stupid and doing something potentially dangerous to themselves, rather than only dancing and smiling, as that would make the most sense in the given context; but, really, it's not exactly relevant to the song and story itself, you could pretend that she's just scared of being a housewife and sneaking out to be anywhere but home and it would make some sense too. I kinda can empathise with the character, I'd done things that were this kind of stupid at about that age.
They're singing it in English to get more people to listen to it so from a business standpoint it makes perfect sense but doesn't sound nearly as good as Gaelic.
I believe that is Irish. Like Scotland and Wales, Ireland has its own native language. English was imposed on those three nations, by their colonizers, the English.
There are only two kinds of people in this world #1 those who love there ears and listen to CW. #2 and those who neglect there ears and listen to P,diddy or whoever I DON CARE!!
