Cemetery for the Rich (Houston, TX, US) 

Glenwood is stunning, peaceful solitude surrounded by city life. If you're visiting Houston or even live in Houston I highly recommend spending a day at the rural cemetery gem

I saw the Howard Hughes grave site before they put a gate around it. Love the cemetery as so much history there.

My Dad grew up near this cemetery in the 1950s and 1960s. He told me stories of playing there with his brothers and sisters. His mother would bring food and they would have a picnic. It would be a day out. I always thought that was so odd until I toured that big cemetary in Brooklyn NY: Green-wood and learned a little more about cemetaries like these. It’s such an odd concept now - to enjoy a cemetary like it is a park but I’m so happy you included this little bit of history.

Great video! Brought back some great memories. In the early 90s I accompanied the Houston Bicycle Club a few times on their "Tombstone Tour" of Houston's Cemeteries. The rides were always done on an early Sunday morning in late October. I still have the map and info sheet. The ride started at the Zoo and then went to College Park C., Adath Yeshurun, Magnolia C., Beth Israel, Founder's Park C., Glenwood C., Washington C., Holy Cross C., and Hollywood C. I remember being surprised how segregated the Cemeteries were by race and religion and nationality. Anyone know if they still do this ride?

My 1st apartment on Washington Street backed up to that cemetery. At night packs of dogs would run through there and all howl together. It was creepy as hell.

It is beautiful no doubt no doubt I'd like to go there sometime you notice you don't see a single person there I'm surprised that it's open to the public

The last time I drove through there, there was a lone coyote running around.
