That only works if you hit the right end. And some ends are in the middle of the ball so I doubt it would work for those. I would have like to have seen you look for the center pull & show it the audience before you did that because it could have already been in the same place before you hit it. I'm sure it works but not in all cases.
When I was teaching crochet (pre-covid), I would explain to students about yarn vomit and how sometimes you would be lucky and get only a bit, and sometimes the skein would vomit out about a third of the skein. It was always funnier if I got the third of the skein as we were working. I always told them not to worry, we'd go through the yarn during the class, lol. I miss teaching. After covid, the store changed up it's classes and they haven't added crochet back in. Those classes are now taught online only. Sigh.
Another tip is most of the time when there's a center pull the outside pull strand is tucked in on the other side. I pull the outside strand out from the center too because it tends to knot on the center pull if I don't. Not all skeins are like this but this tip is super useful with "I love this yarn"
Without fail, I either have the wrong end OR the wrong end is wrapped around the right end causing a knot around the whole ball. The only exception to this is when the outside is so loose it rips the band off the ball while I’m knitting creating its own level of hell. 😂
It works!!! I just tried with a big ball of yarn (red heart comfort 16 oz) and I couldn't be more surprised! Every time that I tried without the spank I spent hours with the knots 😅😅
I have seen an arrow next to a tiny sketch of a piece of yarn.... usually, with the name & photo facing you, the inside end is on the right side, for a center pull yarn skein
Guys i have a serious question about using centre pull for crochet. What happens if we get a yarn barf or yarn vomit in the muddle of crocheting?? I searched everywhere but got no answer. Pls help as im a beginner. And is centre pull better or using the end string better?
I ripped out the entire side of a skein trying to find the middle end but ima try this now Edit: it didn't work 🥲 I think the specific skein I'm trying to start is just too thiccc for this to work
