Alléluia de l'Allégresse (Hallelujah of Joy) was the coronation anthem of Emperor Bokassa I of the Central African Empire. The song, likely composed by Olivier Brice, was performed during the arrival of the emperor to the coronation mass in Bangui Cathedral, held directly after the main coronation ceremony on 4 December 1977.

I know of at least 2 more Central African monarchist songs: the imperial waltz, and what I believe is Emperor Bokassa’s imperial anthem. Sadly, of the only 2 recordings I’ve been able to find of the imperial anthem, 1 of them it is only faintly audible underneath a French narration, and the other is simply a single person singing it without any other music. I’m trying to look for better recordings though, who knows what might pop up

Thank you very much! And aye, had Bokassa just not been as insane as he was, the empire may have been a success and survived. Despite how crazy he was, he’s still generally considered Central Africa’s best post-independence leader. More of a condemnation of the country’s other leaders than praise of him, but it is what it is

Yep, sad really. Bokassa and his empire could have been successful and provided Central Africa with long term stability, had it not been for… you know… him being completely batshit insane, especially at the end. The fact he still manages to remains generally seen as Central Africa’s greatest leader is truly a statement of how terrible this poor country has it

I have thought of uploading chante du departe (I’m assuming this is what you mean), but while used as the anthem of the first empire, it has extremely strong Republican overtones. I mean, part of the lyrics are literally “the republic is calling us” so I’m not so sure it would fit my channel. I’ve had the same reservations about vellions au salute de l’empire, with the line “we conspire the downfall of kings”. The anthem of the second empire is definitely on my list though, and we’ll see what happens with the two previously mentioned ones

Alléluia gloire à toi flamme d'amour, et non pas sango sango. "Flamme d'amour" est probablement une référence à l'Esprit Saint. Ce qui fait sens car ainsi les 3 personnes de la Sainte-Trinité sont mentionnées.

I’m not entirely sure what they are referring to there to be honest. Sango is the national language of Central Africa, so it may be a reference to that. Another theory is it could be some form of nickname for Bokassa
