Living St. Louis producer Ruth Ezell visits the Central Baptist Church, one of St. Louis' oldest churches with a predominately African American congregation. The church celebrated its 160th anniversary in 2006. Church elders discuss the history and founding of the church since 1846.

What a wonderful tribute to an Outstanding congregation! Central Baptist has been a true blessing to St. Louis for generations, and it's great to have so much of the history documented here. The producer, Ruth Ezell, has long been a treasure in the community there and has demonstrated true excellence in this piece. Many thanks to her and to KETC. Rob Harrison, former St Louisan (Oakland,CA)

I grew up on Ezell St. in Perryville, Arkansas and found some graves in what was called Beulah Land (Coopers Gap Road / Houston Ar.) From my understanding Beulah Land was the name of a woman. The school was burnet 😢. The cemetery is a sad ruin as well. 333 x 777 Caught my eye and persimmon pie! 🥧
