Former motorman and camera man Dennis Bostock filmed the eastern end of the Central line in February and March 1981 .
This footage was recently found in the garage by Dennis and is seen as it was filmed . He has written a book '' MOTORMAN MEMOIRS '' which is available to buy on ebay .
His former Guard and colleague Robert Griffiths has also written two books about the central line and he is featured as the guard on the Epping to Ongar guards gangway viewpoint .

just viewed again this evening Richard this has to be one of the best films made by Mr Bostock brings the whole system to life, what it was like back then the trains the people and characters, Regards Andrew Sutton

Further info. My Ongar train had 3/4 carriages, and in one end carriage the electrical gear took up about one third of the space which must have made it pretty elderly, pre London transport? Have been trying to find a photo but failed.

I love how at 13:11, it takes literally 9 seconds from the time the doors open to the time the train's departing :)

The Ongar branch is needed more than ever now. And the 1962 stock didn’t give half the problems that the 92 stock does.

In peak traffic some 8 car units arrived a Epping No.2 platform detrained passengers then went forward into the siding below the Onger branch line then back out to depart from No.1 platform, Often when walking through in the sidings your find a passenger thats jumped in as the doors were being closed behind the guard or station staff. 🤔If they were 😍I used to tell them their be trapped with me for at least an hour 😅And see the horror on their face Wheres in fact it would be 10 mins at the most while awaiting the shuttle to depart.

Thanks , that was Percy the guy in charge of Blake hall station , ticket office , and general station duties , he had a busy job as you see there ! Very cushy actually I imagine , no managers , very few passengers and no one to bother you apart from Biffo and his camera !

TRIPLEVALVE62 THE DEPOT Station manager of Blake Hall, that would be my dream job. These videos are great, fantastic quality for something filmed nearly 40 years ago. Such a shame London Underground no longer operate the line.
