My favorite horse to ride on was the one with the leopard saddle. I would always run for that one first and knew the exact location. I remember my parents paying 10 cents per ride in the 1980s.
The horses on this carousel look quite nice 🎠😉 I love to ride carousels 🥰 My favorite way to ride them is to ride on the horses or other animals that move up and down, because the up and down motion makes the ride more fun for me 😊 I also like the music 🎵🎶
When I was a small child, Mom took my brother and I there. The horses with their fierce expressions, teeth showing, wind-blown manes and wild poses looked enormous and menacing. I probably had been on at least one or two carousels before, but this one scared me too much get on. Then, a LOT of time went by since the mid-sixties. I don't live in NY anymore and hadn't really seen it in years except from a distance. I love carousel art. Thanks for posting this! Next time I visit (which is fairly soon), I just might go see it. I'm glad it still exists.
Nice footage-I worked here once and it's truly a work of art in every way. Your shots capture the colors and carving details nicely, and the Ruth band organ sounded great also.
According to Wikipedia: "The carousel has a Ruth & Sohn Band Organ playing waltzes, marches, and polkas. The organ was converted to play Wurlitzer 150 rolls."
