A rather long video here; this programme is essentially a collection of 'ORACLE' (ITV's forerunner to Teletext) pages listing job vacancies around the Midlands, with some in-vision presentation from Vera Gilbert at the beginning and end of the show. Perhaps what makes for fascinating viewing all these years later are the types of jobs available back then, and the typical salaries that these would pay. In these days of dedicated job vacancy websites, a TV-based service broadcast early in the morning seems wonderfully archaic.

When I was 15 I had a fascination with staying up late and seeing the dawn in and in a funny sort of way this music provided the perfect soundtrack!

I used to record this out of region (DX) as Granada didn't have anything like it and I wanted to relocate to the Midlands when I grew up (I was 15 back then). I do now live in the Midlands actually😂

I used to set my alarm for the start of it, so I could record the music on audio cassette...then go back to sleep again! (No video recorder available as I was away at college!)

Yeh I was a just a 5/6 year old and use2 wake up just so I could watch this There was something about it that wa so fascinating

When I was 11, 12 and 13 I was suffering from insomnia from time to time and I use to watch this during the early hours of the morning and it did help me to sleep, even though I had to get up for school in the next 3 hours. I will always remember the amazing songs from jobfinder.
