An amazing piece of history, gone. Some amazing memories I've had & I know others have too. Kids this days will never know how amazing this place truly was, and most malls for that matter, if any. God Bless You All & Stay Safe

This is very well done. I love slideshows like this. I went here a lot in the early 2000's when I was married. So sad!

You did an amazing job on this video! I’m sad this mall has to close. I was hoping to go one day.

We could spend a full Saturday afternoon and evening at this mall in the 80's. The glass elevator brings back memories of me and my friends using a whoopy cushion in the elevator and laughing so hard. Saw a quick glimpse of Dream Waterbeds in this video. That's a blast from the past. They used to be in every mall in the 80s. I got a waterbed from them when I was 15 in 1985.

Pretty sad to know the mall is now condemned. This was one of the places I would love to go when visiting family in pittsburgh. The mall had a wonderful Retro gaming store and comic shop. I will cherish those items in memory of the mall and good times I had with family there.

Couldn't believe you found a picture of the hobby horse, that was my job before entering the military and leaving the pittsburg area forever. It was great selling models and such. the mall was so vibrant back then. Also where i first discovered chick fila. LOL If you have any pictures of the game arcade on the third floor i would like to see those too. Great video

The Malls seemed to me like a utility company. We need them, and It's not going anywhere. I still agree we need them to some extent.

That was very good, sad, but good. That's the story of malls across the US, a few in the big cities still thrive, but most have gone the way this one has. It's the end of a way of life that only lasted a few years, the golden age of consumption.

It’s depressing to see one of the greats malls in 1980’s through how long become abandon after only about 35 years in operation. Today only JcPenny’s still stands there and all the other businesses besides Rite Aid and Toyrs R us. We still have Waterfront and some of Simon malls/outlets or monreovillr which I’m will most likely become bankrupt in 10 years

Yes especially after this whole Covid. If a business was struggling before it happened they really are now. There will come a day where there will be very few stores with in store shopping

Have to agree with Frank very very sad. I worked there at waldenbooks for almost 5 years and the mall was lively and lots of traffic. Yes, why is it that Southland is getting all the stores and the mall is in ruins. It started with Simon who really didnt want Century 3 but that was the package deal from Debartola and everything started going downhill with the gangs at night so that customers didnt want to come and shop at night. So many stores that were national brands went out of business and Simon didnt bother to replace them. Then the bank took over and didnt research that company they were selling to. Moonbeam is the worse and gave up when they didnt get their movie theater. They just need to get out of town and dont ever come back. Now we have nothing except memories.

too many memories man. This place was still great in the early 2000's when i got my license. driving out on a day off from school, parking on the 3rd floor lot by sears and heading to the comic book shop. getting an ICEE and soft pretzel at RGM Nuthouse or a churro by the escalator and sitting by the small fountain under the food court and reading my comics. And I remember as a kid in the 90's seeing all the trees that lined the concourses or the sunken steps in the middle of the mall where they would hold shows. Or sliding down the railings by KB Toys and my mom yelling at me. I was there last Tuesday for the first time in like 2 years and I shopped around JC Pennys and found some good deals. So sad to see the state of the place. Where was the Cinema World located? Was that where Southland 9 was?

yup, very sad.....and as much as the waterfront moving in, and ross park mall...you need only to look at SHV, been there since the 60s and is thriving.....there was more to the C3 demise than other shopping areas opening....look down the street from c3, there are tons of stores, restaurants, businesses.....they are not moving out....

I spent most of my teens and into my twenties going down to the mall. We always walked around watching guys try to convince people to buy helicopters or some other gadget from the kiosks, or hung out at the food court waiting for Manchu Wok to dump fresh trays or to grab a slice of pizza from the place by the stairs. We always stopped in to smell Gloria Jeans coffee, and of course to go look at the puppies and the parrot. Up and down the escalators and of course the glass elevator, and we always threw pennies into the water. We also had to dodge the clinique lady or purfume sprayers at Kaufmann's/Macy's. The Third floor was like some secret society, and we went up there solely to look cool. Good times!

Spent many a day with my mom and sister on Saturday afternoons shopping here. Nothing like a family bonding with a shared shopping experience. My funniest memory was grabbing lunch at C3 Ruby Tuesdays and I saw a friend who had her 2 or 3 year old in tow and we started to chat. Out of the blue she bends down ,picks up her kid and proceeds to ask him what he has in his mouth. He had picked up a wad of used chewing um and was having at it. Talk about having a sharp eye for your kids behavior!

I heard in the news they’re still demolishing the mall, it’ll be a long process because it’s a large structure. I’ve been binging on dead malls lately and just sad to hear all these malls dying and closing just these past a couple years alone. Some are already extinct, no longer standing on earth. When malls were thriving were times most of us viewers here cherished the most. Our youth and the fun times we had at malls before we took in the responsibility of adulthood. I’m now in my 30s but remembered the times of shopping with family and taking the bus or be picked up by my friends to go to the mall to hang out. The youth today don’t have the same experience like we had. It’s so sad and I’m just reflecting on the nostalgia. I prefer shopping in the malls than online. I hate going through the hassles of returning clothes & shoes that don’t fit. I end up giving them away, hard earned money wasted shopping online. Thanks for documenting this mall. Just subscribed. 👍
