I literally have begun skipping scenes like these with the mother in them. The best I can do right now is mute the sound when the woman speaks. She's so incredibly horrible. I don't know how her husband stands her.

I must be missing some details because of cultural reasons but the mom seems money hungry. Like living. Better life via her child is more important than anything else. And the guilt trip the mom plays is crazy. But my friend who watches as well said it’s a cultural thing that you just go with 😮

No, you're right. It's completely the norm in Asian culture. My mom still does the whole guilt trip and doubles down on filial piety. She gave birth to me, raised me, fed me... So I owe her a lifetime of gratitude.

Well technically he moved into his own house - there just happens to be a few squatters in attendance as well - but he takes this time to win over his future in-laws. Personally I'd prefer the attic myself, except for maybe climbing the stairs

Technically you are correct in your reasoning. However, he doesn't really need to do that to win over a mother-in-law like this. I think it's more about being close to the woman he loves and demonstrating that his love has nothing to do with the hotel that his grandmother gave her to manage. Because let's face it, who wants a mother-in-law like that? I really wouldn't like it! Being poor or ignorant is not a problem. The problem is confusing poverty with ill-education and greed. 💐
