Ceramic Lamp from my Slip Cast Sphere 

i've just binged the entire lifespan of you building Shapecast and this sphere, and it's been so satisfying to watch you develop and experiment, huge fan of your work :)

just lovely! really cool initial test of concept. I can see you doing several things with this idea. Also, I would suggest purchasing some hole punches and using them at a 'wetter' stage of leather hard, and see if that helps with the chip out. they aren't too expensive and are a useful tool for other things, like putting holes in the bottom of pots for drainage.

It’s amazing this worked ! the only time I tried using a Dremel on a bone dry piece ended in tiny pieces in my reclaim bucket 😂

Might it be possible to create a highly nonuniform wall thickness in a slip-cast part by partially sealing patches of the plaster surface? Or perhaps impregnating with something to reduce water mobility? I'm thinking it would be really cool to make the holes part of the action of the mold, and perhaps also to make them diffuse transmitting rather than direct transmitting. Taken to the extreme it would be something like an isogrid structure.
