Definitely. I came here to quickly click through, see if there's some information in here I can quickly absorb and then move on, but just ten seconds in my haste was gone and I patiently watched and enjoyed.
Maybe one of the best videos you’ve produced! His teapots are wonderful!! He’s very practical, gives no nonsense advice and he’s obviously a terrific potter! Well done!
I love the way John approaches ceramics with such joy and passion towards the craft. Sometimes we take for granted that simplicity may just be well enough for the world that we live in. Great video!
I've never heard anyone explain that clay unwinding phenomenon, but I have seen evidence of it my whole life. Excellent analysis of the problem and ideas about throwing gently on soft clay. Also very impressive to put on spouts at an angle and let them rotate into true. /applause Lovely video. Thank you!
Such insight to a potter's life brought to light through gentle and calming words. How many people can you truly say are having fun while working? Thank you Ceramic Review and John Jelfs for this gem.
Such a good speaker and a man who is very comfortable with his work and with himself. Lovely pots as well. I subscribed, partly because he didn't ask me tod and mainly because he seems such a nice person.
Such a great video! I feel relaxed now. 😊I don’t make teapots as it is in my opinion very difficult to make well functioning and beautiful ones. After seeing the video I have sorted a Christmas present for myself !!😃
Brilliant. May you stay on your wheel for a long time. Almost made me start brewing tea. Or even make my own pot Only they are not just for looking at are they. Think I will stick with my Dragons
You got me curious about the torquing associated with clay now. I will definitely pay more attention to this phenomenon. I'm a woodworker and I see torqued wood way to often.
Very interesting and some useful tips too. Teapots are my fav to make, I never try to make them all the same, so each one is individual. Do you trim the bottoms of your teapots? Thanks for sharing your skill with us.
Thank you for sharing this, teapots are my fav to make so I found your video particularly enjoyable. I notice the spout is cut higher than the top of the pot! is that ok and/or does it affect the pouring? I have always cut my spouts at an angle and get it right most of the time. :)
I started my journey to where I am now as a Goldsmith studying to be a potter, sometimes I do miss sitting at the wheel yet The Potter's in the area won't even let me sit down at one of theirs makes me kind of sad
