Believe me, the pain and agony will make you reach a point of “FK it, i will do whatever without any consideration of the consequences”. I know this because i have done this but unfortunately helped me for a couple of days and then the agony came back and now with tinnitus.

I have had this done so many times I lost count along with my lumbar spine. I’ve also had epidurals and radio frequency ablations several times a year for over 5 yrs. My question is do you ever suggest using subutex instead of norco for your long term chronic pain patients

This does not seem to address the underlying cause, it just kills the pain for a while

Wouldnt a muscle relaxer (ie. Flexeril) work for a tension headache just as well? Relaxes the muscles and problem goes away.
@popstargurl241
@popstargurl241 2 года назад
I've had headaches for a long time and I get them anywhere from 3 days to 1 month at a time. Muscle relaxers do not help, pain killers do not help. I am getting this done tomorrow along with a nerve block. If they don't work we would look at surgery and im praying I don't need surgery because I'd rather not have a Shunt or Stent as they tend to have alot of problems

u shd not do this, their is a reason why your muscle is in spasm, its because cervical instability due to ligament/tedeon lax, your muscle it in spasm to take the role on to stabilise your neck whiles your ligaments/tedens try to heal. What you need is prolotherapy/PRP/stem cells, to regenerate the ligaments, if you relax the muscles and havent addressed to root cause, you could make things a lot worse. is a treatment made by people that dont know what they are on about

Another example of treating symptoms instead of causes. You'll never get rid of trigger points through injections. It may manage the pain for a short period of time but if the cause of the pain is not addressed properly, you'll never get rid of your symptoms in the long run.

As a life-long severe migraine sufferer, I can tell you that you are indeed wrong. If I have a 3-4 day migraine that will not “break”, despite the prescriptions from my Neurologist, the ice packs, the heat, the stretches, the EVERYTHING ELSE that a true migraine sufferer will do/try to alleviate the agonizing, throbbing, pain, then what might you suggest that I do???? Again, 49 years old, have been under the care of the best Neurologists in the country, and when my neck muscle and trapezius is so knotted in spasm, which is part of what makes a 3/4/5 day migraine so brutal (I won’t even mention the severe nausea and vomiting because you surely have an answer for that as well), is that the muscle spasm/knot will NOT release itself w/o trigger point injections. My body has been wired this way since I was a child. If there was a “treatment methodology to cure” my migraine and muscle spasm vs., as you say flippantly, “simply fixing the symptom instead of the causes”, don’t you think I and my team of Neurologists, over the past say 43 years, would have tried it??? You are an idiot with your stupid statement and one who clearly has never experienced severe, chronic, excruciating pain, which must be nice. Your armchair M.D. Diploma must look very nice taped to your fridge🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕

you are doing this in the ER setting??? how would you differentiate with other truly life threatening diagnoses presenting with neck pain...? It seems like litigation risk would be high in your way of clinical thinking here...

This is a muscular injection - NOT a triggerpoint injection! Trigger injections involves a lot more detailed history and examination and also a much more individualized and precise injection.

Marion Johnson LOL. It’s always amusing when non medical people assume to correct a medical professional. This is exactly what a trigger point injection is. Even a simple Google search could have provided you with this info. Great video, doc. Thanks for sharing.

Trigger point injections ARE injections into muscle. The needle penetrates the tense muscle fibers, allowing for relaxation and restoration of blood flow. Less ischemia in the muscle= less pain.

@M_J_nan I’m about to get many trigger point injections. They go in to the muscles. Trigger points are points that trigger pain. For me, I have several knots that I’ve had for over ten years. I’ve had a headache 24/7 for that long. I’ve had to research what I can get to help me. Trigger point injections.
