Thanks, A lot for the ALL HARD WORK OF the NAKAMICHI TEAM CONGRATULATIONS FOR THIS NEW DRAGON 🐉 waiting to buy one already started saving money WILL BE MY 1ST DRAGON 🐉
You have my respect, Japan has my respect, and the 11.4.6 Nakamichi Dragon has my utmost respect! This is a flagship product sold at a passion for excellence price, it's not for profiteering, it's selfless and beyond any manufacturer's dreams from my perspective. It's a complete set of tools that delivers quality and ingeniously configured and well-put together electronics and software and the very best hardware! There truly is no competition for your brand and quality and pricing. It's a feat only the Japanese seem to be able to accomplish in manufacturing and in technology. For cars I've always loved the JDMs, the Nismo being at the center of my heart, and even though I got myself a 1.6 Sentra, I've flown past enough BMWs lol. Keep up the good work, and definitely gotta get ma hands on the beast.
The Dragon was far from the first 3 discrete head cassette deck. That honor goes to Nakamichi's own 1000, almost a decade earlier in 1973. In addition to Nakamichi, Sony made several discrete 3 head decks well before the Dragon came out, like the TC-K81 and TC-K71.
Amazing, the new Soundbar king I'm sure. I have a Samsung Q990B and it sounds great and funny enough watching one of the well recorded videos of this beauty at CES it was obvious how great it sounds. That says good things about the 990B and the Dragon. Personally I'll never go back to a receiver based system. This or another version of it will be my next system. Thanks.
I have never owned a Soundbar before and is looking forward to get one, Q990B certainly pleased me when i compared it online, didn't got the chance to test it out in reality. Will u please share your experience on the pros and cons of this sound system!? Do u think it will amaze me? Do u really get very good surround sound experience?
The Japanese, as an entire culture, have always strived for excellence. A very honorable and exacting people who are very dear to my heart! They show love and respect to all. The Japanese have always been different! I am soo glad They are showing the world the definition of " getting back what you put in to an endeavor ". I would love to work for the company that builds this one of a kind, new standard of a masterpeice! " THIS IS HOW IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE."
magnificence in every conceivable way ...now please let me buy one ASAP ...im on waiting list but i cannot wait ..i know i have to but come on PLEASE just release it now :)
I own a Nakamichi dragon cassette player and I love it. I was able to order a new Nakamichi dragon 11.4.6 sound system. When it’s regarding quality and fidelity Nakamichi is top notch and reliable. I ordered my Nakamichi dragon 11.4.6 last August 3rd and approx shipping day is October 2023 and that’s a long wait 😢
Does anyone know if the satélite speakers have a battery built in so they don’t require a power cable and hold a charge? That is something I love about the JBL 9.1 Soundbar.

@@TheGirlSkateBoardCo I think they must to be plugged in to work. This thing has a wopping 3000W of power, a battery wouldn't last very long.
Hello Rayman, very impressive product. Actually only one question remains: When and where can I buy the nakamichi dragon in Germany? Best regards from Germany, Uwe
Will there be an option to just buy the soundbar and the sub's for those who don't need or can't fit those rear speakers into their home theatre setup. ?
Bravo, what a beast. I have the Q990B which I adore, especially at it's price point, but this product is true daydream fuel! I love tech, and projects like this is exactly why. The passion of the team really shows in the end result. I wish you success in reaching great sales numbers of the new Dragon!
@@MrBjorn6 Hard to agree with this comment (no offense). I do not think Sonos has the power, the software (decoders), or the hardware to come close to this system.
Hi..everything "sounds great" :) I am an owner of entire Namakichi audio line, Receiver, Deck, CD-player and after 15+ years, with proper maintenance there are still the best for cd and cassete playback. Short question.. how i can get this system in Europe / Romania? Thank you!
I'm just crazy about Nakamichi products, my first contact with them was about 20 years ago at a high end eletronics store in São Paulo. Back that time the product was expensive but affordable, nowadays I can't find it anywhere and to import it is just absurd costly. I hope you guys take another look at the Brazilian market and make it available here for a reasonable price. There's just no sound like it in any other brands in my opinion. I'm a huge fan and I think that there's a few people like me that might want to purchase a high quality product for themselves. Give it a try! I can help you out selling your products. Just think about it! Thanks and congrats on your new product.
I feel for you, but I believe your wait is going to be a long long time for the Dragon System. My guess would be 2 years. In my chats with the Naka rep he mentioned that they first have to hire and train sales and service people in your area or country so that would be quite time consuming to start with. They are going to cover some areas / countries by way of e-bay though. (europe mostly)
@@Mr.HotRod I believe ebay doesn't operate in Brazil. Regarding hiring sales crew I'm very interested in being part of the team. If you have any information about it I would greatly appreciate the help and opportunity. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my message.
@@danilolorenzetti712 You are welcome. I know eventually they would make a lot of cash in your country, but they are just getting started with this and I am lucky I live in the states, so they are starting their sales here. Brazil would be my guess like I mentioned a long way down the food chain. If I were you and you did not hear anything from them in 6 to 12 months, I would buy something really nice in your area for a surround sound system. There are many standalone units you can put together that are truly awesome.
I want/need that system. The best sound system I've ever owned, is my current 5.1 system that is outdated. How well does Dolby Atmos and/or DTS X Pro and specifically the Dragon system perform in rooms with vaulted ceilings? My ceiling goes from a height of about 8' to about 12' in a width span of about 20'-22'. Also, please tell me that there will be a contest to win one of the systems and that I will be the winner. 🤞🏻😁😂
Hi nak team. I’ve been sweating on the dragon ever since there was the first review by Caleb from ces. I live in Australia and know you have shipping issues with eBay etc. What’s the chances of selling it in two parts. Ie a and b. 1 being the bar and surrounds and cabling and the other part the two subs. I know it’s a lot of mucking around on your end but could get around eBay’s nonsense by doing it in 2 transactions. Just thinking of any way around to be able to experience dragon for myself
Since the height paired speakers have different angle alignments, is it correct that they represent: 20°: Front height 10°: Mid height Wireless surround speakers: Rear height
Bet this nakamichi dragon sounds great for movies and as far as a quality 'balanced' sound is concerned, I wouldn't be surprised if this dragon might actually sound better some mid-priced AVRs. It's with the 2-channel stereo music is where it's going to be lacking. Forget about imaging, when listening to music stereo separation is where it's at. Having distance between stereo speakers allows one to perceive the sound as not emanating from one speaker or the other, but actually from the space between. Something soundbars are incapable of. If you love your music more than your movies then you should think again. Being from the UK you can take advantage of some great deals.
@@totalplonker824 Im not to bothered about the Music situation it's more for the cinematic experience for my living room, I've got the Sony A9 and The Ambeo but they'll be going on sale shortly and I'll try my best to get my hands on this, I don't want wires and a separate AVR I can't be bothered with all the calibrating and everything that goes with it
Nakamichi DRAGON will be available for pre-order on B&H on Feb 8, 2024, 10am EST! Limited quantities available, with shipping to over 170 countries: www.bhphotovideo.com/
How do one pre-order? And can two dragons be paired to work together? But first, I’d like to preorder now. Any information will be appreciated. Thanks.
In the beginning of the video when talking about the history of the Dragon, it is mentioned over 100000 units where made, but serial numbers went only about 15000 and so. My question is if you can clarify what are the exact numbers Dragon deck's produced?
It would be so nice to say something about the construction of the speakers (what materials it has) and what is the rms of each speakers.... so much nice thing to say but no info at all why its ok to buy this speaker in spite of its price... The wireless speaker can it put out lossless signals? Ok no tv will put out lossless signals so how about 48khz CD quality sound?
So excited about this product. I can’t wait to see and hear this system. Given that it provides such a great audio experience, I’d love to be able to plug my turntable into it. Are there any plans to have a phono input so people can enjoy listening to their vinyl records on this system?
Hi Steve, The Dragon will have auxiliary, Bluetooth, and Optical inputs. You should be able to enjoy to plug your turntable into the soundbar, with one of these methods or a conversion into one of these methods.
Will there be a mini version of this dragon? Like baby dragon version without subs? :) I live in a small apartment and this would be an overkill for me.
I really want to buy this system but it looks like they aren't going to be available in Australia 🥶😥 At first they said they will be getting this system in but this morning i received an email saying that Nakamichi may not be selling the dragon system in Australia which would be a ginormous shame, its an extraordinary speaker system. You know he actually suggested the Sonos Atmos soundbar as an alternative OMG NO. Urgh, I will be so sad if they don't release it to the Australian market, this product has me so excited I don't even mind the terrible currency conversion from USD to AUD😔
any mic calibration function? as you mentioned, automatic calibration (auto azimuth, absolute centre search) has been an ongoing theme of the Nakamichi Dragon series. It would be nice to have the speaker output calibrated for any room configuration/acoustic condition.
Hi Syhler, Upon setting up DRAGON for eBay’s Global Shipping Program (GSP), we discovered that the 140-pound system exceeded their weight and dollar value thresholds ($2500 maximum). Hence, it was rejected by the platform. We will try our best to seek a reputable retailer that can handle international shipments for the regular edition, but we do not have any suitable partners currently.
My question is, is it possible for the individual customized the Dragon to 11.6.8 with 4 Omni round speaker at the individual expensive. However the unit would have to be engineered to take care of this. It appears by logic this would be more immersive with 8 ahd up firing speakers I'm assuming you're sound engineer don't feel this is necessary, but if it could be done I think many Nakamichi customers will be willing to pay extra for this?
When I got the presentation correctly that would make a 16.4.8 system since the rear speakers are covering 2 normal surround channels (back and side) + 1 atmos channel. Also in regard of the layout of the speakers (dipol) this does not make much sense. One channel is almost pointing at the audience, the other is firing to the backwall for reflection. So where would you wanna place it? Where are they pointing at and how should the other channel be reflected?
@@xmybladex I don't understand how you get those numbers I believe by adding 2 additional AHD speakers would on be 11.4.8. After all 4 AHD up firing speakers are on the Soundbar, and the other 4 are on the 4 separate wireless speakers. Which you could position as Nakaimichi designed the locations in their Shockwafe 9.2.4 SSE Surround speakers? Can you please enlight me with how you got your numbers? Because if adding only 2 speakers makes the configuration 11.4.6 adding an additional 2 speakers would make it 11.4.8? This is basic arithmetic not advanced calculus? Where did the 16 come from?
Every review of this system has been blown away by this system and the power of it, yet for some reason you still find that is not enough? Have they not proved for years that they know what they are doing? SMH!
@@MrBjorn6 Well, that's not, how it works. At first comparing the Shockwafe 9.2.4 SSE to the dragon is not really possible, since it is a different kind of system which also uses a different type of speakers. The Shockwafe uses direct firing rear speakers, that can be used in different ways, but represent only one channel. This is done while using soundbar type decoding. The Dragon is more like an AVR, coming with speakers. And the rear speakers (Omni-Motion Reference Surround Speakers) are dipole type speakers, that run at least 1 normal surround channel (2, if I got the presentation correctly) and ALSO feature an additional upward firing speaker each. So adding 2 rear speakers makes at least an addition of 2.0.2 to the setup, although I really think each rear speaker features 2.0.1 channels, which makes it an additional 4.0.2. Maybe Nakamichi could clarify with a sketch, what the channel configuration on the "bar" and rear speakers really is and which speaker / drivers run which channel.
@@michael8990 I sent my question to Techno Dad and he thought it was a brilliant question? I suggested that you could have it exactly how they designed it, but if you are willing to pay more $$$ why couldn't you have additional 2 speakers for a more immersive sounds. You take an attitude with that 🤔 Obviously they want to keep cost down because a soundbar at $3500 is already expensive 🫰. What I'm requesting is if possible for additional fee to get a more immersive sounds with 2 additional rare speakers. What is wrong with this question?
For being a high end audio company you should know better. Now that you have recorded this again. You should do it over with a pop filter, or at least move the mic.... There is nothing I hate more than listening to a video having someone pop in my ear.
