In this video, I provide a summary of Cesare Lombroso’s theory of crime. Lombroso, who has been called the father of modern criminology, developed his theory of atavism to explain crime. In Lombroso’s theory of the born criminal, the atavistic form of humans is related to their criminal behavior. Lombroso and his criminal man theory have been important in positivist theory and in the Italian School of Positivist Criminology. For those interested, there is now a museum that shows his work: check out “Cesare Lombroso’s Museum of Criminal Anthropology” in Turin, Italy for more information.
This short overview can function as a brief documentary on or biography of Cesare Lombroso and his criminology or biological theory. This video is in English.
