Welcome back VA!!! I really hope that Rourke can find his confidence again. He was bashed around a lot in his attempt to break into the NFL and his return has been less than expected, but he has shown that he is an incredible talent.
Wow, first comment! I haven't had one of these in years! 😁 The Alouettes needed this, they needed to be humbled. To get absolutely slaughtered by the Lions is a wake-up call to a team that might have become a little complacent as they've been in first place for literally the entire year. Maas is a great coach and he'll make the adjustments needed. One of them will probably be to put in Alexander the Great.
I hate to say it, but I don't think that Nathan Rourke will be back next year. I thought that when he came back to the Lions, he'd be better than he showed. He certainly wasn't the QB that he was two years ago. It reminded me of the Casey Printers situation. He had a great first year with the Lions, went to the NFL and eventually came back to the Lions and wasn't the same. All the credit to Vernon Adams - he handled the situation extremely well and came out and played a great game tonight. He gave the Lions the spark that they needed. I'm just not sure that the Lions are good enough to maintain tonight's momentum throughout the playoffs (there are still too many inconsistencies throughout the lineup). But for at least one night, there were some positive signs. I still maintain that the Lions need to make coaching changes during the off season, especially on defense.
You gotta remember, Roarke was a back up for awhile learning the CFL. He might need some time to get his wheels back under him. To expect him to come back and pick up where he left off when he’s barely played any games was a bit much I think.
@@stanschmenge1965 Good point. I wonder how things would have turned out for Rourke if he had the luxury of training camp. He was thrown to the Lions (bad pun, I know) when he came back.
Nice to see the Lions win a game. What is even better is that they crushed the Alouettes the leagues top team. This new BC quarterback looks promising. 🇨🇦
What are you smoking? New bc qb? He's been there for two years at least, and he's a long time vet. And they "crushed" a resting Al's team that didn't have anything to play for.
The pass receivers have to be real good for the Lions to win. A lot of interceptions are not on the quarterback but on the receivers for not adjusting to where the ball actually is and preventing the defensive backs from intercepting it.
@@wellyforpm Yeah, that looked like a pretty clear penalty @5:00 to me. But the announcer suggested that the contact might've been initiated by the receiver's sudden route change. "He jabbed his feet at that point" - like the contact didn't substantively affect his route or ability to make a play on the ball. Also, I'm not sure if a coach's challenge has to be specific, i.e. DPI vs. Illegal Contact. If so, maybe HC went after the big yds and guessed wrong?
Montreal didn’t even try. I saw BC go down the field with defenders 10-15 yards off the receiver till a TD was scored. Pathetic. I lost $200 because of their bs.
Since I am only warching the highlights, can someone help me, please? At one point in the first half, the announcer said "Fijardo, who's still in the game..." Did he get injured or something -- that wasn't shown? Why shouldn't he be playing otherwise?
The Lions were playing to keep their jobs while the Als were playing to stay healthy. BC should not be patting themselves on the back, that victory was gifted to them. VA used his legs on a couple of occasions to sustain drives with large gains; Rourke would do well to get back in line with that option as running was a major factor in his MOC season in 2022.
That's what happens when one team has everything to play for while the other one has nothing to play for. I knew this game was going to be crap when I saw where BC was in the standings compared to Montreal...yawn...
@@wellyforpm Their game was in disarray, their offensive performance not up to par and questions about their defence. They needed a high to go out on and they needed to prove to themselves that they are capable. Montreal is a proven winner and had nothing worth getting injured to play for.
