Our Founding fathers collected taxes on the people. Governors in the Colonies had the right to enter our homes and Board Ships, and river vessels. Many tried and failed to fight this system and since 1600s like This fisherman , we have ALL LOST. there might be a civil War in 2024 but, the Authorities are quite ready for this as us the military so armed thugs can TRY and change the system to THEIR LIKING but, even if these armed thugs WON then what? An unshaven, unbathed, uneducated jerk off in a Clown 🤡 uniform and armed makes decisions? For 343 million American citizens? Throw out all LAWS, All Regulations, Stop all taxes, terminate All Coast Guard ? Then what? CHINA 🇨🇳 & RUSSIA will LOVE THIS PLAN , LMAO 😂
@@dennisdickinson8337 Thats because people are ignorant when it comes to maritime law vs land and what happens when you want to be a commercial fisherman and by being one, what you AGREE to. You just don't show up with a Cain pole, bobber, sinker and sing on the dotted line. Saying I AGREE sometimes has it's shortfalls. Maybe this guy should have been a used care salesman. less rules.
@@dennisdickinson8337 You are right and the CG does not need probable cause. They never did, even in 1790 when they were formed by one of the people who penned the constitution. Hamilton was his name.
If I remember right he finally won in Superior Court and got a nice chunk of money It is so wrong if you are on land they can't do that so remind me again why they can do it just because you're on the water
"James Blaes, 51, was convicted in U.S. District Court in San Jose of forcibly assaulting, resisting, opposing, impeding and intimidating Coast Guard officers and of refusing to let them aboard to conduct a routine search and inspection of his boat, the Helja". Couldn't find anything where he won anything. People who don't understand the Coast Guards authority just show their ignorance of history. One of the constitution drafters gave the CG it's authority and Mr Blaes didn't change a thing. They still can board you w/o probable cause and now, rules of engagement allows them to disable your vessel for non-compliance. Rather you are fishing or moving drugs. IMO, the CG went about this all wrong. The dude was a commercial fisherman. Have his licenses revoked. Then arrest him for illegal fishing. Or terminate his voyage a they have no idea he's operating a sea worthy vessel that is licensed to fish. See how this could have taken a turn had the CG not had their heads up their rears? But being the "time is on our side" approach, they just waited him out. But if you find something that shows he did win some lawsuit, please share. I love a happy ending.
@@dennisdickinson8337thats been the point. People dont realize you give up the privilege when you cast off. Even more so if you are a licensed commercial fisherman. IMO, if you dont like the rules, sell the boat and go pack groceries. 😮
Doesn’t the coast guard have bigger fish to fry ????? Why go after this working class guy and give him a hard time ? What do they have to gain ?? I agree with the fisherman ….the coast guard and marine police are a pain ….always boarding my boat and checking for stuff ….so dumb ….i can’t see how the courts uphold this nonsense…, I was in the military….this coast guard guy is a joke ….” It was very tense” he says…..why don’t you go to Afghanistan for 18 months ….that’s tense brother ….cost guard is good at rescuing people but that’s about it….
I see a lot people siding with this guy and it just highlights the lack of perspective and understanding of the law and the constitution. He was an angry unreasonable loon and nothing more.
@@dennisdickinson8337 they do when it comes to lifr and limb. And others. Otherwise we would have no rights, people could do what they want and we would have a lot less humans walking this planet. When you sign on the dotted line to be a commercial fisherman, there are rules. And you agree to abide by those. All he needed to do was return to the beach, give up his license and find another profession. Its called choices. He had the right to make them. He chose to just be a azz clown.
@@kayb4995 Hows thats? What if a trucker with his/her CDL decides to not stop at a weight station, or what if a commercial airline pilot decides he doesn't want to top flying after 8 hours? We have rules, laws for a reason. Because this azclown decided he had enough and didn't want to comply, he wasted many man hours and tax payer money for what? What changed. It's 2024 and the CG STILL can and does board you, rather you want allow them or not. So no, nothing has changed and clearly those who died didn't do it for nothing.
Maybe truckers, airline pilots, capt's of LPG tankers should decide to stop complying with federal rules and regs and just do what they want because they feel entitled.
