wow they put in so much work only for people to watch it for about 2 hours, criticise it then forget all about it. All those people who worked so hard don't even get their name out... and yet they still want to create more and more, I've always loved animation, learning about, trying my best to improve my art work but I must say, all these people are just so amazing, I hope they've realised what an inspiration they are and how amazing their work is, whole world's are created because of them!

Well appreciation within the community so its not all bad. All it takes is one person to message you and tell you how much your work inspired them. Its a great feeling that lasts, so message the artists that have inspired you and make their day :)

I've heard so many people say stuff like "CG Animation killed 2D animation because it's cheaper to make" or "It's just computer generated so it's not as artistic as hand-drawn animation". Absolutely not true! The animators spend so much time to make sure that every frame looks beautiful and amazing, and it's one several-year giant group project to do it. There is no "Animate Button", and "computer generated" doesn't mean there's any less work. Every frame is designed, controlled, inspected, touched up, and scrutinized (and it's not an exaggeration-- literally every single frame is looked at closely. Those "everything wrong with ____" videos really annoy me because of that lol) How to Train Your Dragon took 165 million to make, Tangled took 260 million.... it takes a lot of time and labor to make these fantastic films. 2D Animation is of course also beautiful, but I don't believe CG is any less artistic than those beautiful classics. We've reached a time when CG film is just as versatile and flexible as 2D with the help of creative, problem-solving minds (i.e. The Peanuts Movie, Zootopia, Paperman, etc.) Those are my 2 cents. Oh, also they didn't include rendering for some reason, rendering is the final step in which the computer has to calculate the light reflections and refractions in every frame so it doesn't look wireframe/grayscale/flat colored like it does in the software. Each frame can take anywhere from several hours to days to render, which is a lot considering each 1 second of screentime has at least 24 frames in it. For Pixar to render Monsters University, it took them over 100 million CPU hours. Most studios buy a large collection of computers, or a "render farm", to make the process go much faster.
@spaceconsult

That's because the actors are given first credits when the movie is out and people think that it's the actors who make the movie.

@Lurkai
@Lurkai 7 лет назад
Enceos lol nah it still is QUITE an issue. thats why companies have render farms so they can speed up the process of production. im working in animation right now and a scene with say 400 frames if all set up and lighted can take 3 days to a week to render depending on the project scope. try to render a scene from UP on your computer and watch it sit there for about a month or so trying to compute all those photons lol its not so much computer being faster its the graphics cards ability to actually read whats being computed by the porgram and then trying to make it into a format thats easier to view at your local movie theater. while at the same time keepig a very high standard of quality. so its actually become more expensive, but as you can imagine all the millions poured into hollywood can pay for things like this.

Ever since my studio shifted to Redshift rendering we've gotten used to seeing our renders done the next day! Pretty convenient for a small VFX studio on tight timelines. Vray/Renderman still take a bloody eternity, however the quality is better.

@mikieliza
@mikieliza 5 лет назад
Generally it is not. If you google budgets of different movies you'll see that high-quality 2D animation is still cheaper than high-quality 3D animation. (i.e. Mulan cost 70 million, whereas Tangled cost 260 million.) People just stopped consuming 2D animation as much and wanted only to watch 3D animation, so it became unsustainable to keep making 2D animation. Maybe there will be a 2D animation revival someday though!

Why are people criticizing movies anyway? Movies are made to entertain you. Now it’s just “that movie is trash, don’t watch it” and “OMG THAT MOVIE IS SO GOOD WATCH IT!” That is NOT the case. If you enjoy the movie, that’s all that counts. Don’t listen to “THAT MOVIE IS HORRIBLE”. That is that PERSON’S OPINION. People were all saying “THE EMOJI MOVIE WAS HORRIBLE” but me and my friends actually ENJOYED it. It’s YOUR entertainment that counts, not someone’s opinion!! Every movie was made with effort and it has got to be appreciated.

L Lawliet -Rhyuzaki- You know there's been movies that have failed in the box office before and it's always happened. Sure he may become an animator and everything but he should worry more about how good a movie will turn out. Everyone nowadays are just criticizing films but that's usually before they even get a chance to see it like Ghostbusters 2016. Plus there are new animated films coming out this year that I think are going to be shit like "The Boss Baby" and "The Emoji Movie." Even though I haven't watched those films yet I have the right to criticize them as the purpose of the movie trailers is to give us an idea if the movie will be any good or not before we see them. Unless this person can handle all the hatred he'll get from his own movie regardless how good the animation is, I'd suggest he gets a different hobby to make a living out of.

Know that you can be a great animator without drawing skills as well :) At least when working with stuff like vfx, 3d animation or stop-motion.

I want to animate my own web series too. Too bad I *suck* at animation. Making a series is way too expensive so the only way I could do it is if I do it myself since there is literally no animator on this planet who would work for free. You and I are in the same boat pal, only you started before me

Competition makes a film & they make money, competition does something they haven't they learn from it, & since they make it they'll always be a step ahead with whatever they're doing in house.

@@riley530 lol yah. ive done a bunch of animations for people and companies ive worked at.. people have no idea how many years of just fucking with software it takes before you can even feel confident enough to charge someone for your services. i did a animation for a comic book company. they wanted pixar-like animation.. and i did it.. for 400 bucks. they decided to steal my animation, not pay me for half of it.. and went on to become a very successful company thanks to putting my animation on their website. it's a rough gig to do if you freelance. i should have gotten around 1000 dollars for my animation i did. ended up with 200 bucks and stolen work. lol
