In French culture (and some other French speaking parts of the world) we are very uncomfortable with speaking a language if we do not know everything about it. I think it's because we are more afraid of criticism as we are already prone to criticising people if they don't speak perfect French, and expect it's the same in other languages.

This is a quote from the video. "Alot of people are thinking chebe is gonna grow your hair and No! Chebe is never gonna grow your hair. Your hair is growing naturally from your scalp and chebe is just gonna keep your hair moisturized and lubricated and strong". ... "chebe is here to retain the length". Celia is honest, smart, and beautiful. I hope she keep making videos!

I see the comment section is riddled with misinformation!! Even though we all watched the same video. My sisters think they found a miracle cure, they just took what they wanted from the video and ran with it. I can tell all who ordered this product will be applying it wrong when they get it.

I agree that the chèbè mix may not work for everyone. I just recently started taking proper care of my hair. When I was younger I didn't know hair or where to begin to take care of my hair my hair was severely dry and damaged And every time I ran a comb true it huge chucks would break off I had long hair in the center and short hair on the side 😭. My hair personally has to be wash like every four day because it gets super dry very quickly and all I do is shampoo, condition then I add a deep leave in conditioner and something like coconut oil while wet. Then I get a protective style and repeat the process every four days my hair feels stronger I notice less breakage and shedding. Also I've experimented and I've found out that using butter, eggs, oil really work wonders for your hair! I was surprised that the butter fatty content was absorbed throughout my hair making it incredibly soft and the eggs is a good source of protein for the hair! And the oil locks in all that moisture and keeps it hydrated I Keep this treatment in for about thirty minutes then proceed with my routine. PS HAIR DOES NOT GROW OVERNIGHT!!! Hair grows on average one inch a month. My tips to growing healthy and manageable hair is: 1. Wash and condition more often (I wouldn't recommend it everyday!) 2. Use a deep conditioner and a good type of oil to seal in the moisture 3. Get a protective style and repeat! 4. Just go natural stay away from perms, hair dye, heat and any harmful chemicals that destroy hair. 5. Clip dose ends! That'll prevent hair from being knotted and keeps it healthy. 6. Experiment and fine what works best for you. Im a man but when it comes to my hair and my overall appearance everything gotta be on point. I hope you ladies found this helpful.

I grew my hair to hip length the first time I went natural- i'm 100% Nigerian- Igbo to be exact and 100% African- we exist lol. I agree- it all comes down to hair practices- moisture, length retention and protective styles- that's it.
@babyjells
@babyjells 7 лет назад
Oh and shea butter- that was the key to sealing in moisture for me and keeping the strands lubricated- use it on my body as well- this is what my great grandmothers used growing up and I adopted that practice.

You're so correct, moisture does retain length, I'm living proof of that, 4 years ago, my hair was so short, I could barely get it in a ponytail. I started watching these ladies on YT, I started braiding my hair and wearing wigs, I was moisturizing my hair every single day, now I only moisturizer it 3 times a week and now my hair is bra strap length, I shouldn't have to say this, but, no I am not mixed. You certainly answered the majority of questions that I saw in the comment section, you did an amazing job, I really admire your honesty. Thank you sista. I have always been fascinated about these people. We have them in Northern Nigeria and Niger. Nomadic women in the Sahel region ALWAYS braid their hair and it is the braiding technique that makes their hair grow long. The Fulani also braid their hair and have long hair. I have followed their technique for 10 years and I also have tailbone length hair

Miss: Sahel your English is better than my French. I haven't spoken it in ten years. Thank you for this update, well done. To the point most women and men want this product I only ask all of you to please do a patch test first. Secondly wash it out of your hair after a few hours. Then repeat the process another day. She explained that it is the technique that grows the hair not the product but I am sure that if it doesn't do any harm to your hair it will be one more product to try until we are successful. Guys just throwing this out there I used Shea Butter in my hair and it broke off until I changed the brand of Shea Butter that I used and make sure that I do not apply it to my scalp and it been very good for my hair now. I just want to tell you all this is not a miracle product so just be careful. love xoxo

I live in Tanzania and fortunately I was able to find all the ingredients in the description, however as you said it was very hard to find some of them but my local supplier did find them for me, some of them are quite rare in our area so they are quite expensive. @TheGabygael
@TheGabygael 4 года назад
All this routine reminds me of the way we powdered hair in Europe with a fat based pomade that would retain enough moisture for most Caucasian hair and the powder on top of it to style the hair and whan mixed with the pomade it made some type of paste that would be combed everyday and would get rid of all the dust and dirt accumulated throughout the day So I believe that they clean their hair for the simple fact that, as far as I know no population can live without some form of hygiene, and they couldn't grow any good hair if they didn't take care of their scalp. Hygiene and cleanliness doesn't necessarily mean water and soap, it is the one we value the most because our society has grown to prefer that type of hygiene and it is the one that best suits our lifestyles

I really appreciate you sharing this with us. I'm glad that it's not widely available and a how-to hasn't been offered because it can end up as a watered down product offered on alie express or at some beauty supply store with the money not benefiting the beautiful natives of Chad. I can also see some cosmetics giant laying claim to the formula and claiming it as some ancient secret from the Swiss Alps.

I may be a little late to the game (seeing as how most comments are about 1 year old), but I just want to say: 1) Like so many others have said, your English is perfect! And 2) I really appreciate the honesty of your video. I'm sure there are less scrupulous people who would have said anything to sell a product. I appreciate your integrity in saying that chebe is not for everyone; that you were not saying that people needed to chebe it in order grow long hair (because a lot of Black women are growing long hair without using it); and that it isn't a hair growing miracle product. I look forward to more of your videos--in English. :)

UPDATE !!!!!!!!!Hemp seed powder is an alternative to croton zambesicus it is the most beneficial seed around called super seed...filled with the most protein and other properties as is the chebe seed . Remember they use what's availible to them but there are plenty alternative seeds you have to study the properties takes forever but HEMP is the best may even be better alternative for what we have availible . Alot of tribes do this powder to water mix but to them in chad it seems important . Asked a botanist... You welcome america ;)

wow this gave me hope! for a while i thought my hair only had the potential to growth a certain length but after seeing this, im really excited for my journey to long hair! i did the big chop just because i was having issues with my scalp and hair as a whole. i've been moisturizing and using jamacian black castor oil because it has helped restore my edges in the past. i really appreciate you making this, thank you, and God bless!

Tesha Gray Well I mixed it in my hair cream and whipped Shea butter with oil and I use it just as how I would use those items. It didn't feel any different to be honest with you. I will be monitoring my hair closely for the next month and see if there's a difference.

Thank you for sharing your opinions and providing information. Despite what you say about this chebe powder not growing the hair. The moisture it provides and the fact that it keeps the hair strong prevents breakage. The ideal is to prevent the conditions that would cause breakage. And no we don't need chebe powder to keep our hair moist or strong but it's a product option.

It's not simply genetics, it's also their hair care practices but genetics does play a part with the growth of hair and the hair care plays a big part with the retention of the hair.

I think the biggest thing is to not be careful how you handle your hair. I am going to try to do this to strengthen my hair. In its current state it is very fragile although it is natural. I do not use any weaves or anything on my hair it is weak so I am excited to see if this strengthens it

I think the products, judging how beautifully moisturized, and how long their hair is, is amazing and i would love to try it, but I have some concerns. My question and concern is, being that these women are the true 'originators' of 'Africa's hair growing secret' as I have read and viewed elsewhere, are these women being compensated in some way every time an order is placed? Being that their living conditions aren't the best like many places, I hope that they are being compensated in some way that will enhance their living conditions and overall way of life because, wouldn't it be a disservice to them to 'sell' products that 'they' technically created, hike up the prices, and they're not even compensated in some way and their living conditions and overall well-being is still the same??
@jesusmywholehaschanged
@jesusmywholehaschanged Год назад
I doubt they are being compensated. They might forage some of the ingredients, but buy the rest from someone who may or may not be from their ethnic group. I would be cautious in judging their living conditions. They clearly have shelter, food, water, and resources if they are able to buy hair products and probably many of the other things they possess. Some people like living a more natural, minimalist lifestyle. Material possessions and type of home don't inherently reflect the quality of life. Many of the people of these ethnic groups have chosen more modern lifestlyes- the keyword being "chosen".

@@jesusmywholehaschanged This comment!! Many of us Americans(regardless of race) are so conditioned by mainstream media and ASSume that Africans are these helpless beings that need our resources and support. Africa is literally the most rich continent on the planet in terms of natural resources. Let them continue to live in their traditional way.

You're English is better than my Spanish. And Spanish is what I studied. You're fine, girl! Shine on! So, my biggest takeaway is that chebe is a moisturizer and that, combined with protective styling, is how those women grow such long hair? Because, I think I can do that without chebe. Although, I do love to support black and African owned business, so maybe I'll check out your USA distributor.

lol i disagree with some of the comments below. Some will say its not the mixture its just moisture...lol to much moisture can damage your hair as well and lead to breakage. Balance is key and the mixture coats the hair most likely thickens the hair and protects the follicle of the hair much like henna does. Thanks for giving us this great info i will definetly be ordering just hoping the U.S. site is legit* or ill be ordering from France.
