Hi man! Thanks for your kind words! Well some of my ideas materialize from random improvisation sessions or just something I hummed out of the blue, other times I get melodic fragments that need contemplation and deliberate development... Fun fact, for the main theme of Cha-Cha Charlotte I actually used a melody I recorded on Casette tape when I was a little boy - it was then from a set of miniatures called "The Toy Cupboard" and that particular one was called "The Military Marches" ;D

Hi there, sorry for the late reply! You can email me through my website and I can share my settings with you if you wish. But a well-tuned channel EQ and reverb plays an important role. Plus, make sure to download the patch for the Garritan cfx, it makes the VST much more believable with the added half-pedaling samples and other nuances ;)

Evan Kilby thanks for your compliments! well rule of thumb is to minimise motion of the hand whenever possible, staying closer to the keys so that you don't tire yourself out and increase your accuracy at hitting the notes. The rest comes with practice, patience and perseverance (not necessarily in that order lol) ;)

Robert Calley Thanks! I use both because Garritan has sort of the acoustics built into the samples themselves, so when I wanna have extremely clean samples I use Ravenscroft. The rest is pretty much up to personal taste.

For a long time I've used the Ravenscroft and was satisfied with it, now I'm using the Garritan more since with the release of a patch it has half-pedaling samples and other improvements that more or less makes it technically on par with Ravenscroft. However, they are both very convincing instruments with vastly different colours so you have to decide what kind of sound suits your music ;)

I use Max polyphony in Ravenscroft and sometimes it isn't enough, when I Play Warsaw Concerto I hear when some keys dissapear because polyphony is to small, in Galaxy Vintage D I was using 512 polyphony and it was good for it, but when I see 128 in Garritan I think it may not be enough :(

MusclePianist are you sure it's not another issue causing the notes to disappear? I suspect it might be a buffer or ram allocation issue rather than the max. Polyphony restriction. I mean, the piano only has 88 keys, and even if each note requires two polyphonic samples loaded, 128 is still plenty to go around. Check your ravenscroft settings and see if you can tweak. Also, I noticed lag and missing notes when I ran the ravenscroft off an external HDD, so if you do, use an externally SSD with usb 3.0 at least. Hope it helps!

Yes, piano has 88 keys but when You use sustain and play some chords or keys few times the polyphony must be bigger, and You must know that one key doesnt mean 1 voice in polyphony, when you play one key, for example "C" it can use 3 voice in polyphony, so if You play C chord (C-E-G-C) it will use 12 voice in polyphony, but when You push sustain and play C chord 5 times it takes you 60 voice, that's how it works. I hope You understand it ;) My english isn't perfect :D That is the reason why I am afraid about max polyphony in garritan.

MusclePianist yeah i understand what you mean, I read about that too, but still doesn't seem to be in danger of reaching 128 polyphony at any one time... But at least I've never had a problem with my Garritan haha. I'm not an expert on these things, but I guess you have to try it yourself. Sorry I can't give you the right technical answer.
