Chad Gray From Mudvayne Doesn't Dig Modern Metal

I feel the same way as I get older and I was born in 93.

Okay, yeah, well his band is about 20 years old. Corey Taylor is our Layne stayle and munky is our James Hetfield. Like listening to new bands try and pull from sepultra or slipknot or korn. Or even Cannibal Corpse or animals as leaders. It feels nice knowing that we got the raw experience back then. And new bands are still influenced by what was melting our minds back then.

One thing I like about Mudvayne LD 50 album is it sounds brutal, groovy, melodic and heavy maybe a bit reggae & hip hop at times. Anyway LD 50 is probably one of the best and iconic masterpieces from Chad Gray and Mudvayne in my opinion.

I mean he’s not wrong about the copycats in metal it is very prevalent but that doesn’t make the original dudes who made the sound bad. Lots of original content being made. Literally to many bands to name

His statements are cute considering Mudvayne is little more than Slipknot with Seinfeld bass lines.

What made them so different exactly? Nothing. They rode the coattails of others who paved the path before them. Absolute entitled loser rockstar mentality.

I challenge Chad to check out Caligula's Horse Oceans of Slumber Ne Obliviscaris These bands are solid. Main stream metal sucks.

he maybe dont know slaughter to prevail. the album kostolom of them is for me iowa 2.0 without copy any song. im born 88 and listen to metal since im 9. but yeah there are a lot of bands who sounds the same way but def. not all.

I think David Bowie addressed this in an interview when he brought up the Internet. He said that it would change music and everything would become marketing. I don't think modern bands are necessarily copying everyone, I think it's more likely that the market is flooded with music marketing within specific subgenres. Also this conversation isn't new. Literally every era of rock and metal says this exact same thing about new music. Just because someone can't hear the differences between bands doesn't mean it's all the same. I think it's much more likely that this guy isn't actively seeking new music and taking the time to discover, which is ok. It's just kinda silly to admit your own ignorance and call it canon.

I mean..... it cinda is tbh, i listend to so mang songs, and yea... a lot and a lot sond quite the same. Say what you want but i agree whith Chad on this one.

I thought metal went to garbage back in the early 2000s, including Mudvayne. The last good metal album for me was probably static x machine or fear factory digimortal, 1919 eternal. Those to me were the last wimper of Meta.l
