This is so cool. Chad is just one of us - a lover of music and vinyl. Love how you can watch someone's recommended lists - and they will say - this is the GREATEST album I own - it means so much to me - and I have never heard it. if I made a video like this - probably would be filled with stuff others have never heard of - there is just so much good stuff out there and this guy knows about it all! I would love to just get the chance to hang with him one day and talk about vinyl!
This upload "frosted my cookies".🤭I definitely agree with you about Record Store Day BUT you're right; every now and then a gem is found. So many classic albums shown here, Chad. Thanks for this... informative and fun. 😊👍
Still have my copy of ten years after a space in time on audio fidelity still sealed was a gift a few years back never got around to opening it still listening to me original copy
Chased down the Traffic, Ten years After and War albums after watching this and they are as awesome as stated. The Traffic and TYA albums were in constant rotation in my room in 1971 and to have them back, this well done, is a treat.
The Nilsson Schmilsson album will clearly let y'all know what your equipment is capable of delivering. The attention to detail is overwhelming. One of my favorite, well produced albums.
@@acousticsoundsks very cool. One great title that is often overlooked is the Milt Jackson title called Ain't But a few of us left. Great sonics. Was issued by Pablo and later one of the few jazz titles released from MHS. Believe Sterling Sound cut the MHS lacquers. do not recall who pressed it. The MHS copy is sonically better than the Pablo press
I have the Sinatra / Elington record and Yes , its a great album . Sounds stunning , Sinatra and the big band are “ in the room “ 1968 USA pressing and wow !!
I got a still sealed original of that Black Rose album less than a year ago. It’s great. Also scored a Near Mint copy of that Low Spark MOFI (1994) approximately a year ago for $90.
Don’t know how or why but I was Lucky enough to find The Humble Pie AP copy unopened at retail price at my local record shop! I’m guessing this has been out of production? Can’t wait to spin it!
I got that Lou Reed 12” randomly a few years ago in the middle of NH for $10. What a gem, and such a strange release. “The Blue Mask” sounds amazing as well.
Chad, I know you pick the ones you like and that is completely understandable and really cool to be able to do that owning your company. I've been getting some of the Analogue Productions and UHQR releases as of late as well as a lot of other LPs Acoustic Sounds sells. I don't expect this will do any good, but it can't do any bad either. I would love to see an AP release of the 1978 Journey Infinity album. Even if it was Departure, Evolution, or the live Captured LP's, I sure do crave some of that 1970s Journey vinyl in a remastered, upgraded version. I don't think anybody has done anything with those early Steve Perry era vinyl records since they were originally pressed. Sure, there have been reissues but I don't think any of them have been remastered or had any kind of sound upgrade. My old first pressings still sound great but I would just love to see something like these albums put into an AP release! Thanks for the great work and great music and releases!
love Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington. Amie is an Awesome song ! These are all great records man. A Space in Time is my Favourite Ten Years After Album.. Humble Pie...not a bad song. Great Video Chad. You're awesome man
Great list love it. Brilliant to see Ten Years After getting some love they’re one of my absolute favourites. I have a UK first press of A Space in Time and it sounds great. It’s not quite as good as Stonedhenge tho, which is one of the very best sounding albums I own - as is that Wonderful Sounds of Female Vocals comp that’s one of my go to demo discs.
Another War record you do not see too often, 1973 United Artists War Live, great sound, Has a 18 minute version of Slippin’ Into Darkness which is astounding.
@@acousticsoundsks something completely different, an example of one of your great inexpensive record. Seiji Ozawa and the San Francisco orchestra. Three Pieces for Blues Band and Orchestra. Siegel-Schwall Band on DG, one of the great harmonica based Chicago blues bands from back in the day.
Awesome Video and Idea Chad. I actually recognized some and wrote down some others. Written List when you feel that you are done would be much appreciated also.
Nobody asked for my recommendation, but here it is anyway. I put a lot of time, energy and money into building my system, dialing the room in, learning to wet clean my records well, etc. I'm happy with it where it is, any more improvements (there are many) is just gravy. That being said, I wanted "Pastel Blues" so bad for about a year or so, maybe a year and a half. My favorite Nina songs/versions are "Sinnerman" and "Strange Fruit" from the "PB" album. I had never heard the rest of the album and I purposely didn't listen until I got a copy. It was going to a lot of money and though I have paid what it was going for for albums before, I waited. Then, one day it's in stock for 35 bucks. Got it home, wet cleaned it very well, put it on and dialed it in. I teared up. Overwhelmed by the songs and the quality of the pressing and how far my listening room has come. I'm very fortunate to live at a time when I can get something so well done for 35 bucks. I appreciate what your doing, Chad. Every Analogue Productions record I've bought has been amazing. From the vinyl to the jacket, even the shrink.
Hey, Chad - nice pics, really appreciate videos like this one. On another note, I wanted to ask if your company could revise shipping rates to Puerto Rico. We get the same domestic shipping rates as to states from all mayor online sellers and most vinyl stores online, but a big exception is Acoustic Sounds, which quotes international shipping rates to Puerto Rico. If you revised these rates I'm sure you'd get a nice volume of direct sales from over here since there are just a couple of small records stores in the entire island, and none specialize on audiophile pressings.
Greg Brown rules. I didn't even know The Poet Game came out on vinyl. I just assumed from a small label like Red House in 1994 it was cd only. Fun fact, it was recorded at Prince's studio, Paisley Park. You should reissue the Greg Brown records Chad.
Yes I like Greg Brown and I think this record sounds terrific. We'll let another company reissue the Greg Brown as we have too much on our plate, but thank you - we do love him.
King Oliver originally recorded “Chimes Blues” in 1923 and Louis Armstrong was in the studio at that session. To think the song will be 100 years old next year… remarkable!
Great recommendations. I was about to ask if you didn’t listen to any albums released the last 40 years, but then you included the Springsteen album at the end. 😉
You've added to my honey dew list! When you do your list, very difficult with lots of holes without any AS titles. Satchmo is a gem, he just breaks your heart with Wonderful World after all the suffering bestowed upon him and how positive he is. Aha, now we know the next 10 years of UHQR.
Wow.. the Pie. Stevie Marriott one of the top five singers in rock. Live At The Filmore one of my favourite live albums from a time when they meant something.. Smokin’ not a bad album but past their peak…. But don’t let that put you off. p.s. saw them play on the Smokin’ tour at a small venue on the English East Coast. Was near the front and they were LOUD. Huge stack of amps aimed at my left ear. Woke up next morning for school (14 or 15) with dried blood in my ear. Mum went ballistic….you are not going to any more concerts! Sure, mum.
Hi Chad, thank you. You mention one live recording, reissued by Alto, mentioned that if we like waltz for Debby we should love this, but you don't mention the name of the album. Please do here in the comments.
I have many different systems. We have them at the pressing plant, our office and at my home. Too many to list, but I have things like ATC, Tannoy, Quad 57, Vandersteen, Avalon speakers, VTL, Macintosh, Sutherland Electronics, and I have so many brands of turntables - Basis, VPI, Technics, SME, TechDAS Air Force One - and I have a turntable museum which has things like Gerrard 301, 401, Thorens 124, 224, 125, 126, 226... There's just too much to list! Trust me, here at Acoustic Sounds we're deep into it. I do not believe you have to have a half a million dollar system to get good sound, the most important thing is your source (a good recording that was mastered and pressed well.)
So I picked up an un opened copy of the Analog productions Satchmo plays King Oliver almost 2 years ago, and I really want rip it open and to listen to it but I know it has become more and more rare. These vinyl records kill me.
@@acousticsoundsks LMAO. I love this response. Straight to the point. Thanks for all the hard work you and the team have been putting in. We really appreciate everything you're doing to drive the space forward. Cheers
Wow!!!!!!! Chad mentioned Humble Pie Smokin'...... This is NOT a Jazz release......I repeat again THIS IS NOT A JAZZ RELEASE!!!!!!!!!!! I own 3 copies of this album including a White Label Promo....but in celebration of this non Jazz recommendation....thinking might have to get another copy for the collection....Thanks Chad for talking about other titles besides Jazz👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
