Your dad sounds amazing. My mom became legally blind at 63. Totally blind at 95. She was amazing like your dad❤️

Mate, throw your loose chain when straining over the top of the strainers rather than let it fall strait down. This will stop you dropping the chain when reversing out the strain - no need to hold it. love the vids, keep them coming!

I put a standard hook on the other end of my snap hook chain that way it's easier to grab the chain when wrapping post.

I know all about strainers! In 1965 when I was 12, my dad got a wild hair and bought a dozen dairy cows… Those cows gave milk 10 months a year. He thought he’d hit a gold mine! When I said the cows gave milk… that’s actually not true. They made milk and twice a day he went out, perched on a one legged stool and ‘coaxed’ them into filling a bucket. My job was to grab his half full bucket… he never filled it all the way to the top because every once and a while, the cow would take a notion to put her foot in it… after she attempted to take his ear off! Then, I took it to the milk strainer that was perched in a milk can… and carefully poured it in. I knew better than to spill it… because a cup of milk is from six to ten squeezes of the cows teats. That old saying about, “Don’t cry over spilt milk”… never met my dad… I can assure you that there were a few times that spilt milk brought a tear to my eye! But, getting back to strainers! Here’s a few hard learned tips: - don’t forget to put the filter in before you pour the milk. If you do, you will spend a half hour emptying the milk into the bucket, washing the milk can and rinsing the strainer. - change the filter before it clogs. All that hair and stuff will mat up and you won’t be able to get it strained before your dad has the second bucket ready. - Make sure you lift the strainer and ensure the can isn’t full before you pour the next bucket in. A 10 gallon can will not hold 10 1/2 gallons of milk. Failure to perform this step could cause you to cry over spilt milk. - cover the strainer while not pouring milk. There are a lot of insects flying around and stuff coming out of cow orifices that seem to love to land in strainers. - Don’t ever, ever, ever use the milk strainer to catch minnows in the cattle water tank… no matter how much you hose it off, the fish smell won’t disappear before dad comes home to milk. Crying over spilt milk is nothing compared to the bawling you are gonna do after that!!! Please don’t thank me for this advice. I am just happy to share… you and your customer service folks are welcome to use the tips when they get calls about proper use of a strainer. Now, you have a good danged Christmas!

It takes a few more squeezes when working with goats and we use pints and quarts rather than gallons and pails. But the concept is the same.

Boundary strainers also work to: pull tracks back on post drivers I use it when belly wrapping pipe to suck it together fast. Pull posts Square walls Small winch. Pull trailers around to slide it onto gooseneck ball. Pull trucks up onto trailers. Non dot binder. Temporary Pull brace.

I like the chain strainers but not the wire grabbers that come with them. I changed mine to speeco wire pullers and it's much easier to keep the wire attached before its tight. The wire grabbers that come with the strainers let go if you don't keep a steady pull.

You know with your gripple you shouldn’t trim the ends off your wire so short you won’t get the gripple tool on to the ends of short wire if you need it to tension

Is the T gripple as strong as termination knot at post? Specifically for high tensile woven wire.
@SWiFence
@SWiFence Год назад
Technically? No, I don't think so. The termination knot will get you 1,100 or 1,200 lbs and the gripple t-clip is rated for 880 lbs. Practically? I don't think you'll see a difference. Any strain that fence is taking is spread across each wire on the fence.
@jeffburns1481
@jeffburns1481 2 года назад
Love the vids. Why not just use the gripple with the designed tool (grippler tool) vs installing and removing wire strainers? Also is there any benefit to leaving the wire tail straight so you can adjust gripple if things become loose. I guess would be an issue if the gripple failed.
@SWiFence
@SWiFence 2 года назад
If the gripple tool works on the t clips I didn't know it.

@@SWiFenceare you removing the stay wires after it seems pulling perpendicular to the hbrace would put excess strain on the assembly.

Is the price of galvanized pipe skyrocketing in your area too ? 1 5/8 x 21ft pipe here: March 2018 was $33. Jan 2021 was $41. Today $62. Checked around and this was the cheapest trade account supplier. Others wanted $88 for a 21ft stick of 1 5/8. Outrageous !

Buen dia Amigo, las cadenas que usa el strainerite y el hayes h300 son del mismo tipo??. Si fuera así en donde podría comprar 5 o 6 metros de cadena. Gracias
@SWiFence
@SWiFence 2 года назад

Well we sell them in Cody, Casper, & Chenne WY. 😉 Tough to say in NM, you're going to need SS-40, not the residential grade stuff you'll find in the hardware store. Try a fence contractor and see if they'll sell you some.
