Awesome video's. Please keep them coming. I am just about to go in my garage to do my chain tigtening on my super stomp pitbike. Look forward to seeing more of your video's. Cheers.
I've watched like every video on how to tighten the chain on my rocket street bike and this was the only one that had the same swing arm as my street bike. you explained it well and it was a great video. I don't know how old you are but you seem like you're a young chick (don't be mad at me if I'm wrong please) and you made a better video than most of these guys. keep up that great work!
You didn't take in consideration your swing arm sag, That chain will be tighter when you take the bike off the stand and sit on it! Your chain is more loose when it's up on a stand because the angle of the swing arm.
Na man I don’t think it tightens as the wheel doesn’t move further away when you sit on the bike just changed the angle of the swing arm the sprockets are the Same distance tho it shouldn’t matter if there is a difference in how tight the chain is it’s mm
You have a knack for making these maintenance videos, and it's great to see a young lady with these skills. I'm an old timer (soon to be 65) that started riding off road at eight years old. A few comments, and these are NOT meant to criticize you in any way. First on your wrenches. The ones you were using are not "crescent" wrenches, but combination wrenches. Combination because they have two types of ends. One is an open end, and the other a box end. Box ends are better when you have really tight nuts or bolts to loosen, as the box end type doesn't tend to spread as really apply muscle. The open end type will flex more when you try to apply muscle, and it may even spread far enough to slip off causing cut or even broken knuckles. One other point I didn't hear mentioned in your video. Every motorcycle I've worked on when adjusting, or replacing chains, the swing arm will have marks on it, which are supposed to be used as guides so you get both sides adjusted equally. There will be marks on the swing arm, and then marks on the adjusting mechanism. You can count the marks to see if both sides are adjusted equally. However, it's not uncommon to have the marks be off when they made the components. So, some people will take a tape measure and measure from the center of the swing arm bolt and nut, to the center of the axle bolt and nut. Most of the time, I have just gone with the marks. Your system of just tightening the adjuster bolts equally is a pretty good system too. Love your videos!! Looks like you haven't made any in over a year. Will you do some more? With your mechanical aptitude, I bet you could tackle fixing a flat, or replacing the tires, and even checking and adjusting valves. I'm even thinking about buying one of these Taotao's for myself.
I'd like to add that most likely these are metric nuts and bolts but you're using standard wrenches. That axel is most likely a 19mm lock nut with a 17mm axel bolt.
Nice video, it will help me with my daughters’ Apollo 125. I do see that the chain lubricant should go on the inside of the chain so that centrifugal force would push it through the chain and not off.
Can u do a video on the chain roller im tryin to see what i need to buy i got a used tao tao without a roller trying to put it back together like factory
What happens if you tighten each side unequally? I was distracted so i forgot how many turns i did on each side. One side is probably 3 -4 times more tightened than the other side. Any idea?
I built mine today and the chain was super tight, almost no play at all. I did the 25 minute break in around the block and it's still super tight. Should I loosen it at all?
shouldnt u clean ur chain - then lubricate? good vid tho i was wondering on a pit bike with the self tensioner for my mates ive been helping her with looks like i guessed about right the play is about the same - cool vid :)
Note: Always spray from the interior side of the chain to avoid beeing splashed everywhere, also use the user manual to see what is the correct tighness...I looks too tight in the video can cause sprocket damage. tighness can be measured in the chain movement.
Mad how some kids are thick as shit and pampered and some kids are down to earth and just normal .. this kid explained this Better than most adults on RU-vid
Excellent demonstration but I use Clamps n pliers 😂 you are very smart though and I really like the way you explain everything I just don't have the tools right now I left them all New York and I'm in the south
Sometimes your chain needs to be oiled and you need to sit on your bike if it's a new chain and let it stretch out and you just leave the inch to inch and a half of play at most you got to stretch it out when you first buy it to its actual size
Great job, you used "end" wrenches not "crescent" wrenches. Crescent is a brand name of an adjustable wrench. This is not a criticism only a small technical tip. Keep up the good work, a pleasure to watch your videos.
you do want the swing arm level to set the chain. that will be its tight spot. if u dont have enough slack/slop in the chain as is the chain will be way to tight when the bike has weight and or the suspension travels, cause damage. chain should have huge slop with no weight on it ,
i have an apollo and the chain keeps popping off when i try to go up the slightest hill. Wtf is that I'm sick of it doing that, it's starting to eat through pieces of the axle and nuts everytime it pops off the wheel spins rapidly and starts eating thru stuff smh 😓
Bike looks brand new those chains stretch,,i put a o ring the best no oil grease inside the chain little rubber inside the chain,x chain has the rubber inside to but o ring is supposed to b better
Geektechking i have this bike for my son and i ride it like crazy. great bike. only people that complain are those who know nothing about basic mechanics. im 6' 2 and 240. this bike hauls me around with no problem. and these are almost identical to the ssr
Geektechking if your willing to pay for quality than you cant beat a name brand bike honda kawasaki yamaha. but if your a casual rider who just wants to have fun and go crazy then these bikes are perfect and if something does break its supercheap and easy to fix.
Well if you try to jump this bike, it will suck suspension is horrible compare to ssr, I ride my tao tao in the neighborhood, but would never take it to the track
Michael Kuzma dutton i have an apollo and the chain keeps popping off when i try to go up the slightest hill. Wtf is that I'm sick of it doing that, it's starting to eat through pieces of the axle and nuts everytime it pops off the wheel spins rapidly and starts eating thru stuff smh 😓
Marty284 dude did you ever get it fixed? I know exactly what youre talking about. It'll roll no problem but as soon as you give it throttle it rips right off
@@GametimeSlime check your belt tension & make sure your swing arm & rear axle adjustments are aligned. If your rear sprocket is off alignment, chain will pop off constantly. Watch her video & see how she tightens & aligns. GL
Belt tension 😂🤣😂🤣 & she really shows you how to aligne the wheel with do the same each side 😂🤣 obviously his wheel is off so it he turns it 23 times each side it's still going to be off what a unless knob you are 🙄
See the problem with mine is that the gap to get my wrench In there is friggin small I can't even move the nut ... I'm looking for a tool that will fit as we speak lol
