Schools and colleges are a drain on society at this point. Their main goal is to misinform and indoctrinate. Colleges specifically are paid for by students. Highways can be paid for out of tariffs placed on goods. Law enforcement agencies are enforcing laws we never voted in or asked for. They most certainly do not protect us. Hospitals and doctors are paid for by the people, directly or through insurance. Putting tax money towards them is a giant waste. Education is readily available online these days, continuing to fund those institutions just drains society. Send your kids to Khan academy if you want to educate them.
Elementary schools are a scam. They typically indoctrinate and misinform children. All resources needed to educate our children are easy to obtain and cheap these days. At this point their primary function us babysitting. College is funded from student loans. Our taxes are wasted on colleges. Highways and roads can be funded by tariffs placed on goods. Hospitals and doctors are funded mainly through insurance companies and direct payments. Nurses are paid the same way You listed education twice, proving my first point for me. Let's face it. Income taxes are a fine placed on people for being useful to society.
He's following the example of his church leaders who have squirreled away a 100 billion dollar hedge fund using secret shell companies. You can be sure it's all deductible under our tax laws (loopholes) which have been written by corporations and the wealthy.

Absolutely. 10% tax across all people would likely cover most things. 20% could give us much more. No write offs. No prep needed. Simply straight tax across the board.

There ought to be mechanisms to prevent statutes of limitations from collapsing cases. It's an outrage that criminals to --Scot--- "Trump"-free when their lawyers are able to slow down the case enough.

I have only ever paid on my returns the last 2 years. Always, always got a refund. Thank you Senator Whitehouse. I make less due to inflation and now compounded with owing tax. I am pinched.

The first statement sounds like made up nonsense. Uniformity in what? Creating a solid tax base on income does the opposite of helping our CHILDREN achieve their dreams. It steals from their efforts to achieve their dreams and hands it to someone else. Nobody SHOULD want to pay a tax on being useful to society. Being useful and working for society makes our society function. We pay taxes on far to many other things already. The world spins of its own accourd, that's a principle of physics and not taxes.
I am an Australian, with shares in Australian companies. I often wondered why I would sometimes get mildly threatening letters about reporting my income to the US Tax Office. My accountant told me not to worry, it only applies to US citizens and companies. After seeing this video, I now see what the problem is.
The USDA has personnel in slaughterhouses to keep meat safe. It seems to work, I've never been sickened by meat. I see no reason why the government can't install an accountant to keep corporations honest, or have all assets immediately frozen. I think we'll be able to get them to pay their fair share.

$688 billion?! That could cover _most_ of the federal deficit! Sounds like properly funding the IRS and enforcing existing tax laws would go a long way toward balancing the budget.

When I was a kid in the 1960's I recall being taught in elementary school that supporting your country with hard work, public service, military service when necessary , obeying the rule of law *and* paying your fair share of taxes were *admirable* and *necessary* things for *ALL* American Citizens to do. How can it be that only three or four generations later three or four really, really, really, really rich UNTAXED people have managed to twist things around to the point where *they* have more income comin' in than the total income of 90% of Average American Citizens? Who allowed that to happen? GOP political factions within our OWN government have allowed that to happen. Personally I have no respect for people who make a *more* than adequate living who pay no taxes at all. I'm especially upset over the fact that a lot of the corporations these people own get *huge* tax refunds. Type the question: "How many huge people/corporations have gotten enormous tax refunds and haven't paid any taxes at all?" I typed that into my Google account and there were *331,000,000* responses. Got a minute? The top answer to my question revealed that there's *55* major corporations who haven't paid anything *in* but have gotten plenty of $$$ *out* of the Federal Government since 2020. Our own government has a lot to answer for. Let's reverse the Supreme Court's 2010 Citizens United decision and strengthen American Democracy instead of defunding our Rule of Law until our Democracy is "small enough to drown in a bathtub" as the GOP's Tea Party vowed to do in 2009.

It's much easier to do that these days since the majority of people in Michigan, (including me), voted for mail-in-ballots years ago. :) I've happily paid my fair share of taxes to not only fund my own Social Security retirement but to *pay it forward* for future generations of Americans to provide for Medicare, libraries, police, the military, electricity, roads, bridges, tunnels, water systems, schools, hospitals, Public Education, Adult Education, and everything else a population referred to as "the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave" should have. I'm only doing what *millions* of Americans have done before me and participated in supporting the Common Good for All Americans. Not just myself. What have *you* done?
