In most cases, the Biotemps provisionals are made before the teeth are prepped, allowing the Biotemps to be immediately relined and seated on the actual preparation date. Impressions of the pre-procedural teeth are sent to Glidewell Dental and the Biotemps department scans the case, designs ideal virtual preparations, prints a model, and then fabricates the Biotemps on top of that model. If the Dentist performs the ideal preparations in the patient's mouth, then uses the enclosed plastic prep guide (to ensure the preparations are ideal), then the Biotemps can be relined and immediately trimmed and seated. However, for cases where the Dentist wants a long term, perfectly-fitted provisional to train tissue or allow surgical healing, the actual preparations can be impressed and sent to Glidewell Dental for exact fitting Biotemps to be fabricated. Keep in mind that for this method of operation, the patient will need to wear some kind of chairside fabricated provisional in the meantime before the final Biotemp provisional is delivered.
