Now how many singers do you know that can vocally match what this woman is doing in this song while smiling and making it look effortless. I don't know many. There is only one CHAKA KHAN!
How can these people be sitting down for this jam! I’d be up on my feet dancing to this groove with Chaka scat talking up a storm! She’s one of the best singers of our time.
Unbelievable performance , and i listen to this over and over and can't believe the lack of joy and enthusiasm from the crowd .Chaka and the band are throwing down and they act like they hear greatness like this everyday... SHAME
these lyrics are so deep...man C.K's has an awesome pen! Just think how much better her old material would have been if she wrote as much as she did on the Come 2 my House album..
Great concert recording and what a band! Vinnies drumming is funky as hell on this tune. These guys played together for all of one week before recording this show on the last night. Chaka Khan is just a gift to the world of music.
I have so much respect for Chaka... it's really reverence. When I saw Whitney Houston's "I'm Every Woman" (with the dancing girls and young ladies) I got a real kick when Chaka showed up at the end. They all deferred to her. It was Chaka's smash hit written by Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson, so Whitney may have thought her version was a joy-filled tribute to Chaka.
Yeah, her lyrics she wrote back in the rufus days were very different compared to most songs during the 70's...i just wish she would have done more writing 4 her solo material in the 80's
Always loved this song because of the chords and melody. Then I concentrated on the lyrics. It's about a female's crazy behavior in a relationship to the extent it's driven the man to seriously contemplate leaving her. This story accurately delineates the basic difference between the temperment of the sexes. (Yes, there are exceptions) I'm just refreshed at the honesty at which the woman "owns" her behavior and says in spite of this, baby I need you so please stay with me. I'm not saying I will change. (That's a subject for another song) They lyrical content is perfectly matched to the jazz/fusion style of this song. Hearing it live brings that stylistic choice even more up front.
@TheCmelmoneyman Her vocal ability and ear are just crazy. And she can actually sing anything, like any and all styles. there are so few singers who can do that. Wow. just WOW. if there was a film on Ella she should play her!
Oh! Chaka I love when you sing in this style. What a super sounding band. Someone please tell me where and when this performance took place. Just an awesome performance by all..Thanks for posting.
A melhor que houve!! The best!! Incomparavel em todos os sentidos pra ela nao existe nota inatingivel. Desde os tons mais graves aos mais agudos Chaka Khan transita de forma suprema e inalcansavel!
7 string bass? Wow, now I've seen it all! 4-5 strings are plenty for me but I'd love a 5 string with that length of scale on the neck. The longer scale on electric bass sounds just right!
Please forgive me, I don't know what to say Except I'm sorry to scare you away from me I get crazy and don't know what I've done It's all hazy thought we were having fun Was it so bad You feel you had to leave me, baby? Now that you're gone I need to belong, believe me, baby I would be so glad If you would reconsider and stay Reconsider, reconsider, reconsider Baby's cryin' it's so cold in our place inside I'm dyin' We need the smile on your face don't need no money I don't need no girlfriends, want my daddy To love me again and again and again and I would be so glad If you would reconsider and stay Reconsider, reconsider, reconsider Sometimes honey I know I talk too loud Short temper I'm apt to cuss you, you I don't mean it, passion gets the best of me Still I love you and I feel like you love me too I would be so glad If you would reconsider and stay Reconsider, reconsider, reconsider If you walk out that door You betta reconsider this if you don't call me no more You betta reconsider, reconsider that, reconsider If you think you were lonely before you betta, reconsider, reconsider this That I changed the lock on this door You betta reconsider that if you stop payin' these bills You gotta reconsider I betcha somebody will You betta reconsider
Todd Bridges went into a meltdown gaga mode when he introduced her on the SOOOOuuuulll Train... She was so cool getting big props from the young buck ~ Thhaank uubaaabee
