Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle are bonafide powerhouse singers at aged over 50. They surpassed Whitney, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and even Christina Aguilera who has been lipped a lot of the belts and high notes of their songs for years. If not lipped, dodged.

Even so I'm not seeing greatness in this performance + a lot is dodged. Lets say that indeed they had better vocal longevity compared to the others you've mentioned, still no one can really be compared to the vocal trinity in their prime (except for Aretha). Their prime is what makes them the greatest female singers of all time.

Black singers have different placement on their voices, they are more shoutier sounding rather than using a balance mix. Hence they can go higher without much fatigue on their voice.

I love it. Chaka does have to realize that the main reason people know this song is because of Whitney. She owes a huge debt of gratitude to Whitney's legacy. Chaka was cute for what she sang.

Chaka's version was a moderate hit when it was released in 78. Whitney took it to another level. Those versions were recorded 14 years apart, not over 20 years.

That's fine. If you guys think people would remember Chaka's I'm Every Woman without Whitney version, then God Bless You. Even though you're sorely mistaken. It's not like Chaka's version was a classic like Donna's Last Dance.
