Kara and myself were discussing some challenges with raising our dogs. Each dog has their own quirks and challenges and a breed like a Cane Corso can be a challenging breed to raise. So I quickly stopped our conversation to have an impromptu video in regards to the subject of the challenges raising a Cane Corso as I feel it could benefit some of you out there looking into bringing one of these breeds home into you family.

My husband and I waited for 5 years before we decided to get a Cane Corso. We did our research on the breed, and we waited until we moved into a much bigger home with land so he could have the space to play and explore. We knew we wanted a large breed and are so happy with Titan-Maximus who is now 18 months old.

I'm 56 years old and now have my Corso puppy. He's amazing. Fully potty trained at 5 months old. His name is Baron! I also own two Pomeranians. He adores both of them!

I have grown to just love this breed. The last couple of videos, you hadn't mentioned Joey Justice and I thought it was before you got him. He is a doll as well. I remember when I would house sit for some friends that had 3 Great Danes, 2 cats and an African Grey Parrot. The size of the dogs was not much of a big deal. The bark surprised me a bit. When one came over and sat next to me, I was very happy. The bird on the other hand...I was terrified of her. We got used to each other though. Keep the videos coming! It's a lot. My girl is 8 months and challenging me on everything that I taught her. Training is every day. Consistency and patience. You hit the nail on time. It's absolute.

My girl is 7 months and it's a tough age. You still have a dog that's very much a puppy but the size of a full grown large breed dog already. It definitely is a lot

My CC puppy is 5 months old now. He is an absolute joy and he is so sweet and loving HOWEVER the puppy biting was no joke. The small cuts and bruises in the beginning before he understood what level of play biting was okay - brutal. They are a joy but it’s a lot if work and it’s not for anybody! You need to understand their mentality but also the sheer size and power they got even as puppies. ❤

Also just wanted to add that I really relate to the part about people gravitating towards your CC. 🤣🤣 Ours is a grey brindle with grey eyes and people are so intrigued and ask if they can say hi to him ❤️ A total people magnet 😂

hello guys... Bruce and Justice are the best dogs. so well behave. I fell in Love with them because of your videos - so informative. It goes to show proper training and socialization is key with these 2 monsters. I had a preconceived notion that these boys are dangerous. Yes they are - if you dont raised them correctly. I cant stop watching your videos. keep putting out GREAT - informative content. Best show on RU-vid..

Thank you for the video, very informative. I rescued a 7 month old Cane Corso for the MSPCA. I named her Freya. She did not have a good start in life, underweight, skittish but she is doing so well. I've owned Dobermans most of my life and I love the breed. Finding Freya and meeting her, there was and instant connection. She is incredibly smart more than my Dobes. Her training is going amazingly well. She grows more confident every day. Her fear of men is slowly fading away, especially with my husband, he's been so patient with her. It's only been 3 weeks and she fits in perfect. Looking forward to a wonderful life with her in our family.

Very good advice. I been training security/CP dogs for almost 30yrs. The information given here is brilliant. All too often people get a dog assuming all will be great and easy........ That's not reality, almost certainly with big, dominant breed dogs. Great video, great advice.

Totally understand. We've had Weimeraners for 22 years. Currently have two males. The energy alone is a lot, but when you love the breed, you stay on top of things for the best of the dogs.

we have a 7 month old puppy we took in who has been beaten by previous owner, trust issues with people but the most loving dog at home, we walk and train like 7 times a day and she's making big progress. verry smart learns tricks in minutes at home. only problem is trusting people and dogs. on walks she freaks out. your videos help us alot

Such a nice video and I really appreciate the honesty. I would love a Corso but I know I’m not ready for one and I think more people need to be honest with themselves about it. Would you guys ever consider a podcast or making these style videos into just audio so I can listen on my runs 👍

Hi Jason! We love them, there is something really deep and special in these dogs. We have had our Mark for 8 years, probably the most amazing and blessed times of our lives. He passed away from creepy cancer, too suddenly, we did not even know he have it, regardless of the regular vet checks and things, but I cannot recover ever since we lost him... It is going to be a year without him very soon, and I am still too sick. How do we cope with this grief and what shall we do next...i am asking you if you have experienced such a lost already, and i desperately need to figure this out within myself. I have huge support from my family, but inside I am broken and feel huge emptiness :(

your content has been amazing.. much like the prior post below we have waited over five years to decide on this breed after our English passed away at almost 13 years old in my arms. I was in contact with a few breeders and then We came across a rescue with puppies from an unfortunate breeding of a Cane Corso and Standard Poodle. Because I had worked in English bulldog rescue for many years I could not resist this lil mutt.... Thank you for your input on growth, training and all your info!.. very informative. We pick up our little beauty in three days.... A dream come true..

I have had my Cane Corso/ South African Boerboel mix (Dozer) since he was 3 months old.... He is great and loves his older brother Kane that is an bully pit xl... Kane is now 8yrs old and Dozer is just a little over 1 yrs old...

Being able to meet and satisfy such a challenging breed definitely keeps you on your toes and leave you with little opportunity for spontaneity but I wouldn't change it for the world... the bond MissNova and I have built is indescribable ❤❤❤

Learning a lot from u. I've been wanting a guard dog for when I'm out hunting or away. Our kids are moved out and we have grandkids that come and visit and I wanted a dog that would not back down if something happened. I'm turning 50 this month and my wife got me a female Corso. I loved her so much the first time I held her. She is so beautiful. Ur videos are gonna help me be the alpha I need to be. Just got her last night by the way. Thank you for posting these. I had an Akita growing up and yes he was a challenge. To say the least.

@inatehex going good. She is friggin humongous at 8 months. But smart. Some things she doesn't listen well other things she does so I guess it's a learning curve. She does get protective already with poeple she doesn't know. But I tell her it's ok and she starts to open up a bit. But I'm very happy with her. My wife wants a male and have puppies. I dont know about that thought. Lol

@@ronfultz2084 Thanks for taking the time to reply. I’m glad that it is going well. I am looking at adopting a cane corso from one of my wife’s friends who rescues abandoned animals. I have two young children, and all the research I have done is telling me that they are very loyal with family members. The dog is currently a 4 month year old male and we will be looking to rehome him in a couple of months when he has been trained and back to full health.

Dog training isn't the 10-20 minutes a day where you are doing formal obedience. Dog training is a lifestyle. It's every interaction with them. Every time you walk through a door, every time you take them outside, every time you leave them. Dog training happens the entire time you and your dog are together.

I've always had king shepards , pits, akitas. Last year my old pitty passed & knowing one of my kids was moving she so loved our shepard. My daughter knew I'd be lost. Last march this beautiful brindal big eyes & huge paws slide across my feet to reach the shepard. I quickly said sit. As on auto both did. Knew you could do it mom. My head said ohhh no, potty training... again. But 3 months. 3 days. Watching & learning her we did it. Every moment with Bree is training/ working. Walks/ runs/ is amazing. I've never had a dog that learns an stays on task like a breeze (hence her name). My one fear was our livestock. Would she chasa, bark or go bonkers. None, she walks in, out lays with sheep goats (once they figured no harm). Never had a pup that let baby kids want to play with them. Last weekend was our first outing with one of the horses. She was great. As you guys outing are always stop n go. Her brindal coat, is eye catching. And almost everyone wants one. Where? And I always ask... how much spare time you got ? Because this breed is an will always be a 24/7 dog... til death do you part. An if not willing to be consistant... death will part you. Manners an social activity's is a must for me. Watching your posts has been such a learning tool on the breed. ♡♡♡

5ft female 57 yr old bull mastiff and dogue de bordeaux owner. Black eyes, burst nose, lips occur regularly when playing, not for the faint hearted. Although huge and powerful they are more gentle around the kids particularly the bordeaux, shoes or slippers are a must to avoid trodden feet.

I really appreciate your informative and candid videos on the beautiful breed. This is helping me to make an informed decision. I am extensively researching for the best breed for my needs before I'm ready to commit in a year. my primary desire is to have a personal guard as I hike/walk alone in the parks. I do this often and sadly was almost assaulted one time. The pitbull I owned that I got from the pound protected me in that incident and I was able to escape. Sadly she crossed the rainbow bridge at 11 years old, but now 3 years later I want a dog that will protect me. I think the cane corso could be an amazing fit for me. I understand the need to socialize and obedience train. Many people get guard dogs never socializing them because they are afraid the dog will love everyone, which is simply not true. Instead, they create a dangerous situation that is an accident waiting to happen. I would not get a guard dog lightly, and would take the necessary steps to make sure everyone (without evil intentions) is safe.

Cane corso was my first dog. Xena is 3 at 6 months ny sister passed and i fell off the rails .she was my dog so my sons and wife quickly bacame worried . She was difficult and domineering. I missed so much training . So faced with losing her and knowing how good tgey are .she was sold to me by someone i Trust. So bit the bullet and used to grab her by the scruff with my teeth and pin . I used an agressive appiroach. It didn't work. It broke me. .so i literally stayed. Firm but showed trust and the love. She switched .boom trust and love

That makes sense about introducing to strangers. My boys still barks at my husband every day coming in the back door in the dark and I praise them. They calm down after they see who it is and he praises them I praise them because they are guarding me. My husband wants them to do this. He wants them to guard until they see who it is and then back off if no threat. He said everything is a threat until it isn’t. Yes they do take a mile lmbo my younger one loves the ponds and we do not let them swim every day so I have to put him on a lead until we get past the ponds he just can’t control himself he is compulsive when it comes to water and wants to swim lol and shame on us we do laugh because it is funny he is like a toddler in a dog suit. ❤❤❤

I'm interested in getting a Cane Corso because I admire them & their majestic presence & how loving they are! I'm single & I have a 12 yr old Teddy Roosevelt Teddy Roosevelt Terrier. I"m also about to go back to long haul trucking! I'm trying to sort out which breed is best for me - a Cane Corso, or perhaps a Bullmastiff. Both are amazing & loving. At home, guarding is not an issue. I live in a tiny Northwoods Wisconsin village. But on the road - (OTR ) I may need that guarding aspect, but I DON'T want any potential for any unwanted aggression / liability. I hear people claim every breed is allegedly stubborn & I laugh at that! I've trained Siberian Huskies! I GOT this!

Hi I have a question , I have a Daniff puppy 3 months old about 40 lbs. we have bought him toys to chew on but he keeps bitting on me and my husband we can't make him stop we tell him no and push him away but nothing helps . Im here because Zak George says it's possible to raise dominant large breeds with purely positive training so Im trying to see if there is even one person on youtube that can train a dog like this using purely positive training with no adversive methods. Whats your guys opinion on that?

I would agree I have a 3 year old cane corso looks like bruce but only 125 pounds. He still very well trained when out and aboit but has lost the trust to let people pet him. So im just taking it slow and just having him around people before letting people pet him because he shows no intrest in strangers

These were and are the easiest dogs to raise. At one point I've owned 20. These dogs pick up anything you teach them like velcro. Then they help you teach other dogs.

Obedience training needs regular reinforcement by just reminding the animal whet your expectations of their behavior is. My father trained German Shepherds for police work in Chicago. All our dogs were expected to know the basics which required practicing. I live with a large macaw whose been with me for 33 years. I need to handle her daily or she gets out of practice and will be even more unpredictable 🤷🏼‍♀️

As far as the hand in front of the dogs face when you’re telling them to pet the dog, we’ve all been trained to let the dogs smell you first and it sounds like that’s what the person was doing

I enjoy your show. I discovered the Cane Corso about a month ago and I'm swept! They are exquisite . I have a question Jason is that a tattoo on your right forearm?
