@dalek999 bro he's been dead for like a year he died due to complications with a drug that I don't remember, but sorry you had to find out in a youtube shorts comment
As a person who got accidentally bit by my dog and had to have a surgery on my hand and had to relearn to use it in physical therapy. I’d recommend not putting your hand in your dogs mouth even if you are trying to prove you are the alpha 😂. Accidents happen and it is an animal at the end of the day.
This is extremely important, especially in a pack full of dominant dogs (dog breeds). Your dogs will be more confident and chill knowing that you're a suitable alpha/leader of the pack, worthy of their trust, devotion, and respect.
@@FearFxl alpha dog doesn’t actually exist it is an outdated idea. You don’t have to “assert dominance” so much as simply teach them boundaries like you would with a child, albeit a little more in an animalistic manner.
I think chihuahuas are too dumb to be trained or comprehend the concept of dominance and alpha male. They’re just gonna do what they want when they want how they want no matter what. They prolly think they can even walk all over a grizzly bear
I’ve seen people not register what this situation actually is and just give total authority of their household to the dog and then act crazy when the dog starts tearing shit up lol
@@zambot264 It’s pretty usual for dogs to chew things up as puppies, most the time regardless of whether the dog was trained or not, as most training will take up to year or more & as puppies they don’t comprehend things are good as a full grown dog, kinda like a adult vs a child but very dumbed down
I have a 155lb cane corso and I was tested once, he'd snatched a steak from the counter and I grabbed it to get it from him, to show him that wasn't acceptable behavior. He growled while holding the steak, but I got it from him and stared him in the eye and he backed down. I'm glad I haven't had to do that again.
As someone who's worked with dogs for over 10yrs, the average person in society is too soft around them. Dogs communicate to each other in many ways, including the occasional correction to let each other know boundaries. That includes all kinds of things. People who REALLY work with dogs know you sometimes have to either yell or say something loud and firm. Some customers where I used to work would be like "You yelled to stop two dogs from fighting?! ABOOSE". You don't have to beat them AT ALL, but you do have to stand your ground and illustrate to your dog at some point you're in charge, you're stronger than them, and that challenging you will never go their way...
Thats been what pisses me off about my family nowadays. We had a german shep pup growing up, but not only was he the runt, but i was four and my dad could properly train him, so he had someone young, like him to bond with. Now our current dog is a violent lil shit and he hates anyone except our family he was around as a puppy, because i was dealing with high school, a job, and depression, my dads battling cancer and my mom cant control him on her own. And they both seem to think dragging him around by his neckand putting boards up so he cant see through our fence will fix it...
We have had two of them. They are like I am. Grumpy and don’t fuck with them. Other than that you’ll take a week off when you lose one and never be able to talk about them without crying. The best dog ever.
Domesticated dogs don’t have a pack alpha mentality. Even wolves in the wild don’t really have it. You’re not supposed to “assert dominance” in a way that makes your dog see you as it’s “alpha” and something to be scared of, all you’re doing is CREATING that mentality. You should be treating your dog like a pack member so that it’s natural instincts to not hurt it’s own are developed. Unfortunately, most of you guys who have these aggressive dog breeds are pretty simple minded, and see them as an extension of your masculinity. You need a tough dog to be a tough guy
Back in 1983 I had bought a German shepherd, I trained him well, taught him both verbal and hand commands. But as with any young male dogs, he tested me for dominance. He had caught a rabbit and was holding it, that's a typical action of the breed, he was saying this is mine, don't anyone say other wise!!! I had a niece born to my sister and I knew he might've done this to her as well. So I walked over and ordered him to drop, he growled and tried to cover the rabbit. I held my hand out and stronger said drop. By now he was up and really threatening crouching ready to fight me so I faked with the one hand, grabbed his collar and while yelling no flung him off the rabbit and making him understand I would not put up with this behavior. He came over to me with his ears limp and body language being "I'm sorry". He never did it again.
My boyfriend talked about that happening to him to in a sense. He had a mastiff just like in that picture and he was a monster. When he stood up on his hind legs and put his paws on my bf’s shoulders, he was taller than him. He tried to bite him not long after he first rescued him, and so he put the dog in a chokehold. He didn’t apply pressure it was just a reminder that he was stronger. When they rescued him, he was very aggressive. He loved rescuing and rehabilitating aggressive animals before his kid came along. That’s what he’d have to do though is show the animal that they can’t just do whatever and that there is always going to be someone stronger than you, so you need to act right. I never got to see it first hand but I got to hear the stories from him and everyone around him and see the pictures and videos of the difference in the dogs that he’d rescued.
@Dustin Groom If that mastiff wanted to assert dominance, it would have done more than come to it's master when told and growled at him when taking a piece of trash away..Lol Also, do you even believe the guy? A plastic bag in the wind in the woods? .. wtf is this a family guy episode ? Lmao
This can't be real. Holy shit. The story falls apart because of the bag in the wind. Please, for the sake of my faith in humanity, tell me its a troll.
@@matthewford8857 Hold on, restore faith in humanity that your not serious. Garbage in the woods is unheard of?! And Mastiffs do try and fight for dominance. I have 3!
I’ve done this with my Belgian Malinois. Same exact way, with the fist clenched right up to his snarling teeth telling him to do it. Usually once I put my hand to his mouth his eyes soften up and he calms down and licks me. It’s a tense situation because you have to be ready to take the bite, but you have to show that you aren’t afraid of your own dog. I usually pick him up once he’s calm and put him in his crate. This asserts dominance in a non violent way because it shows I’m physically stronger than him and then bring his energy down by restricting his movements.
You can be a viking that can lift 1000 pounds but if a central asian or Gampr jumps on you a 200+ pound wolf killer with a head size of a lions just know your gonna act smart as human to get out alive. Ive seen full grown adults get wiped all of the floor and die from injuries from the cage fighting places. Caucasian breeds are different
I always grab my dogs teeth from the moment they are pups to their final days, shows them that I ain't afraid of the bite and that they can be playful at the same time, I've never had a problem.
Finally someone said it. Far too many people have this weird idea that they should treat their dogs how wolves treat other wolves. It's just not a good idea.
My cousin had an English Mastiff, and he was a big baby. He would lead me to his toy box because he wanted to play. He loved to hug people. I loved that big softie.
99.9% of the time, all really big dogs are like that. They've been bred for centuries specifically to be gentle, precisely because they're so massive and potentially dangerous. Even when they are somewhat confrontational, they are *way* more patient than a smaller dog would be.
I had same type of situation with my previous dog. He wouldn't release something in his mouth and I knew he was challenging me 100%. Baring his teeth and growling and although I definitely felt intimidated etc I wasn't going to back down as I knew I would be making big problems. He submitted to me and it didn't happen again. Just so glad that I was able to keep my shit together.
backing down means for the dog that he won the challenge, so you were correct. most people get scared and back down to say "easy" when the dog acts like that, but they dont realize that they are encouraging him to be dominant
I worked with a guy that told me the wife is the alpha in the house and the dog wasn't showing him much respect. He mentioned the dog would growl at him occasionally when he was around his bowl. He couldn't piece together that he's at the bottom of the hierarchy in his own house and that his wife is likely cheating as she would often enough sleep over at her "mums"
honestly you usually dont have to do that much just being like "wtf are you doing" in an assertive voice will get them to realize they messed up i have 2 pits and they are like kids they just want to know how far they can take it before you get upset they grew out of it quick tho once they knew the boundaries
I’ve always wanted a cane corso. But you gotta be on another level when raising them. If you do it right it’s the perfect dog. If not, well it’ll make your life a living hell
I dared my dog the same way, and he went for it. He was a rescue from a dog fighting kennel and hated humans. So I had to fight that dog for 3 days every time we looked at each other, and I always held him down and bit him back and simulated a death bit on his neck until he was relaxed until he wouldn't leave my side and showed respect. But he became the best and most loyal dog and so easy to train for security and especially for my siblings' kids.
Yeah man some dogs you’ve got to show who’s boss but there’s a certain way to do it you don’t have to beat them just assert dominance when needed seems like you handled it well brother. what breed was he Don’t say a Chihuahua because then it’s no where near as impressive ;) 😂
Dumbasses you don’t need to fight your dog especially if they’re former fighters. I doubt this is even true and you need to learn what google is, or touch grass and stop watching anime. It’s rotting your perception of what sounds cool 😂😂😂😂
@@jahaanelliott805 you just can’t assert dominance on whatever you want. If I tried asserting dominance on my gf I’d go to jail. That goes to show u that u abusing the dog and grooming it. Perv.
Used to do this with my dog when she was alive, I’d just put my hand in her mouth when she got aggressive and told her to bite but she never would, she’d back down and continue as normal
I would never let my dog bite me, anytime they started to growl at me, they got a strong smack, of id punch them in the snout. My dogs are extremely loyal and loving until this day.
@@ArthaxtaDaVince777 hitting them can provoke them, I do this to show them I’m not scared, it’s a form of dominance and every time I’ve done it they’ve backed down
@@ArthaxtaDaVince777 naaah dude you don't do that. You just step over them and push them slowly taking their space. You then tap their shoulders simulating a bite until they calm down. I had a doberman and I remember I used to wake up go to him wait for him to greet me then pat him, then I used to lay him on his bavk and kept him there for a while. That dog used to guard and protect and never got out of line. Puching a big dog will just make them more aggressive.
@@No-ck4rz If they provoke me, I am ready to end their life. I act as a parent, and if my dog is to turn on me, I will not forgive that sort of betrayal. Kicking can provoke them to bite, but when you specifically target them in the head, they will eventually calm down, and if they don't, you know you have a mentally deranged dog on your hands and its time to put them to sleep. A dog that would bite its owner can never be trusted. Yes, a dog even if being abused cannot attack its owner.
@@jmara3741 Thats probably possible when they were pups, but thats pretty much impossible as they are now over 150 pounds. I hit the male when he was young and he has never in 2 years acted up after that. The female will sometimes try to growl when she senses I am angry at her, but its more of a way to tell me to back off. I know she will never bite me. I disciplined them well when they were young.
Same here! Now that the pecking order is handled, I walk around with my Akita off leash-he knows who the boss is now. That, or it’s another game of f around and find out
@@2K9s I think I have a very special one. She gets along with strangers and most other dogs so well. The only problem we've ever had was with an aggressive German shepherd. told her to heel and she immediately listened to her command. Luckily the other dog was on a leash or she would have done some real damage to it.
@@boliussa not insane, its not a wild animal or strange dog. It's just necessary reality with dogs, especially big aggressive ones. If u need to put a muzzle on for your safety, you or somone done messed up already. Leave the dangerous breeds to the alphas. If not for these "irrational" techniques, we would have no dogs at all, only wolves. When you show fear, they get more aggressive to get their way. If you run, they will case you. It's just part of nature.
@@leekelley4701 So putting your hand in the dog's mouth to test it, is normal dog training method. What percentage chance is it that in this normal dog training method, that the dog bites? And what's the result for the dog trainer? Also, if you train a dog to obey instructions, and put your hand in its mouth and say bite.. Then what on earth. If you don't want it to bite then you're then training it to not follow instructions.
@@boliussa the dog was doing the same thing to him in various ways, and if he didn’t assert his dominance over the dog, he could look forward to problems down the road. The owner was doing the right thing as a pack leader, and was communicating in a way that dogs will understand from thousands of years of genetic memory. Risky, sure. Real progress usually involves risk. Insane? Couldn’t be more sane and is a great example of a microcosm of animal daily life.
did the same thing with my border collie when he was young, he'd show his teeth and snap when he felt brave or dominant, id go nose to nose, put my hand in his mouth, or pin him to the ground until his ears went back and he relaxed, (submitted). hes a happy playful sweet boy now. never hurt or attack your dog, thats not a lesson, its abuse.
Alpha is nonsense. Debunked for 30 plus years. Time to actually learn something if you want to have a dog. Otherwise just don’t. No dog needs that crap out on them.
@@judyives1832 Debunked? More like talked to pieces by wanabe animal psychologists. Ask any ranger, professional breeder or police dog trainer wether there's a dominance instinct or not in dogs, those are the ones studying animal behaviors for decades and decades.
I’ve had many mastiffs. In that situation or even play that gets too rough, sticking your hand in their mouth sorta snaps them out if it & they calm down. I would never do that to a stranger mastiff though. Mastiffs are the best dogs and love their family but they are protective.
My dad said the same thing about his cane corso he’s had so many different dogs from boxers to Pits even his mastiff was such a sweet heart but ever since his cane hit around 2 years he a lot more testing so to speak even points where he has to be put up with company becuz you just don’t know when that day maybe the day he tests someone he never met before
Smart. I’ve done this. Use enough pressure to begin to cut off his throat. That will initiate a gag reflex and he can’t bite. You better commit because there’s no 2nd chance.
That’s the only way to truly show dominance to your freaking dog. I don’t care what Dog, I don’t care who you are. That’s how it works. It’s a wild animal, technically until you show it who it is to obey.
I have Heelers. Every once in a while they will try a little and get put in their place quickly. They nip, try to break but it is in them. They bully two thousand pound animals though. I can put up with a little from time to time
