Welcome to Sixth Episode of Chalo Turkiye Travel Vlog Series where I take you on a mesmerizing journey through some of Istanbul's most iconic landmarks and cultural treasures. Join me as we uncover the rich history and vibrant atmosphere of this captivating city.
Visiting Beşiktaş, Eyüp, Beyoğlu and Üsküdar districts provide a rich tapestry of Istanbul's cultural and historical diversity, from religious landmarks to vibrant urban life, making them essential stops for any traveler exploring the city. Some of the important tourist attractions in these districts are:
Golden Horn
Golden Horn is a major urban waterway and the primary inlet of the Bosphorus which divides the European side of Istanbul into two parts. Here, you can take scenic boat rides, savor waterfront cafes, and see historic neighborhoods such as Balat and Fener.
Galata Tower
Galata Tower is a medieval stone tower offering panoramic views of Istanbul. The tower has an observation deck and historical exhibits that give glimpses into Istanbul's Byzantine and Ottoman history.
Dolmabahçe Palace
Dolmabahçe Palace is located on the Bosphorus shore in Istanbul. It is a captivating blend of European elegance and Ottoman grandeur. It was built as the administrative center of the Ottoman Empire. Its opulent interiors feature dazzling crystal chandeliers, intricate marble work, and exquisite furnishings, offering visitors a glimpse into the lavish lifestyle of the sultans. Surrounding gardens adorned with fountains and manicured lawns add to the palace's allure, making it a must-visit for history enthusiasts and architecture buffs alike.
Eyüp Sultan Mosque and Tomb
Eyüp Sultan Mosque and Tomb is a significant religious site, housing the tomb of Hazrat Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari Radhiallahu 'anhu, a companion of the Hazrat Muhammad Sallahu Alhe Wasalam. This religious site is known for its stunning Ottoman architecture, peaceful atmosphere, and panoramic views of the Golden Horn.
Eyüp Sultan Cemetery
Eyüp Sultan Cemetery is a historic cemetery next to the mosque, housing the graves of prominent figures from Ottoman history. The atmosphere of this place is peaceful, with beautiful gravestones and a glimpse into Turkish cultural traditions.
Pierre Loti Hill
Pierre Loti Hill is named after the French novelist Pierre Loti. This place offers breathtaking views of Istanbul. You can take a cable car to the top, eat at cafes with scenic terraces, and take in the bustling landscape of Istanbul.
Büyük Çamlica Camii
Büyük Çamlica Camii is situated at the top of Çamlıca Hill. It is one of Istanbul's newest landmarks and the largest mosque in Turkey. Completed in 2019, its modern design harmoniously blends traditional Ottoman architectural elements with contemporary aesthetics. Visitors are welcomed into a serene environment adorned with intricate calligraphy, Turkish marble, and expansive prayer halls that can accommodate thousands of worshippers. The mosque's hilltop location offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city, providing a peaceful setting for spiritual contemplation and admiration of Istanbul's skyline. A visit to Büyük Çamlıca Camii promises a memorable cultural and architectural experience in Istanbul.
Balat
Balat is one of the oldest and most spectacular area of Istanbul. The second you step foot along its narrow cobbled streets and historic buildings, you sense an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Istanbul, and indeed the world. The most famous symbol of Balat is its rainbow-colored wooden houses. Over the years, these lovely buildings have become the number one tourist attraction in the area.
As our journey through Balat, Eyüp and Beyoğlu districts of Istanbul draws to a close, I hope you've enjoyed this glimpse into the city's vibrant past and vibrant present. Join me next time as we uncover of beautiful beaches of Fethiye, Turkiye. Until then, Allah Hafiz.
