İs it a chalumeau alto? Doesn't seem a soprano one. What a wonderful sound!

You play beautifully! And I never knew we can make a vibrato by moving the whole instrument..It really was an eye opening scene for me...Brilliant! :D

Thank you so much! I adopted this method from multi-talented, multi-instrumentalist Nadishana... I found I was able to have a different texture with the vibrato and have even more control. I absolutely love this technique for this small sized instrument.

Thank you! Yes, this is the idea... that it is a much simpler instrument to play, but you have a very similar and warm and rich sound like the duduk!

Absolutely amazing piece. Made me buy a chalumeau from Max too, to add to the C i already had. How do you achieve those high notes around 3:15? My goal is to one day have a sound half as beautiful as yours ^^

Thanks so much! That's wonderful to hear. So, each Chalumea is unique, with it being entirely handmade and wood types respond differently, but with mine (and the others I also have), I only slightly open the thumb hole... really just a tiny bit and apply more pressure with my lips and the air flow and then I can achieve the next register!

@@Archerandtripp2015 Oh great, thank you. I did figured it out after posting my question. I still have a lot of work to fine tune my playing, i don't have all the notes yet (weirdly it's between the two ranges that i miss some :D ) Thank you so much, and bravo again for your amazing music!

I just bought a chalumeau in G from Max Brumberg, the same as you are playing: A beautifully designed instrument from Olive-Wood with a sound soft and powerful as well! Your wonderful playing together inspired me to order this instrument and its so good and easy to play because of the special design of the holes. But it will be a lot of work to play nearly as good as you ;-) What mouthpiece and reed are you using or do you recommend? Mine is a Rico B7 with 1.5 reet.

That's great. Max's instruments are truly wonderful! I use Vandoren Mouthpieces switching between B45 and B40 depending on what character I prefer for the music. I also use reeds 2 or 2.5. In this video I am using a 1.5 though.

@@Archerandtripp2015 is it difficult to learn and play ? I started learning clarinet 2.5 years ago, starting from scratch with local conservatory school. Is there a register key as for the clarinet ? Thank's a lot :)

@@Archerandtripp2015 Hi! beatyful sound and you are both very talented musicians whit a lot of feel . thanks for sharing which one gives a more softer or duduk like sound the B4O or B45? i planing to buy one from Max but i would like to have a sound which is very near to a duduk. thanks

@@heikoweise9679 thank you! So I use both 40 and 45 and find that the 40 has to softest sound overall. However, the Reed is also very important, as well as mouth position.
