Chameleon CHA F Magnetic Loop Plus v. 175 Ft Longwire
This is a very unscientific shoot out that was an initial test of my new Chameleon F Magnetic Loop Plus Antenna that I plan on using for HF portable when we travel. The antenna covers 80 m through 10 m and full details are available at

Since it is still the middle of winter in Maryland, I did not want to have to transport my radio and power supply or battery outside to test the loop. Instead, I bought a 50 foot telephone cord extension cable from Amazon for about $5. The Chameleon RT-RR optional accessory (remote tuning - remote rotator) is what makes this kind of operation possible.
If you've never owned a magnetic loop antenna, you quickly find out that tuning is required every 100 kilohertz or so. You also find out when a magnetic loop antenna is in vertical polarization it is highly directional. So, without the RT-RR, my picnic table remote operation would've been pretty much limited to one frequency and would be favoring some directions over others. If you are operating PSK or JT 65 on one band, this would be workable. Otherwise, the RT-RR is an invaluable accessory.
This current version of the Chameleon Loop Antenna is not waterproof so I need to bring the antenna back in the house each time when I'm finished playing with it on the picnic table. The good news is that Chameleon is hoping to come out with a waterproof, higher powered version of this antenna sometime this year.
As the weather gets warmer, I plan on a lot of portable operations and will add additional videos about my experiences with the Chameleon Loop Antenna.
